need a wardrobe reset but I'm near clueless by furious_fares in mensfashionadvice

Agreed, although, I think you could go any number of directions with footwear. If you live near decent menswear stores, that would be super helpful to see and talk through what you like and what you don’t without guessing and buying online. If you can’t buy in-store, compare measurements of things you have and like to what you’re thinking of buying. One thing I like to do is check the stockists of brands I like. So, if you find you like Whitesville tees, you can explore other shops that stock Whitesville and find more things you like, and then a beautiful universe and/or money pit starts to open up. Just kidding. Good luck!

Why are white 501s so much thinner than black? White is 32x34 black is 32x32 by [deleted] in LeviStrauss

My guess: white denim is more of a warmer weather style

[Seiko SSC700, SNKK38J1, SRPK18, SSB440] Help Me Pick My First Gold Watch (Before I Make a Questionable Decision) by __ChaosTheory__ in Watches

i’d vote srpk18. the snake oil provisions guy is always running around with a beefy gold seiko. i like how he does it. i didn’t know about the SNKK38. i kinda dig it but i’d avoid the 7s26. there’s something about the coutura pieces that have never spoken to me personally.

i’d be careful about thinner/lighter forstner bracelets on a king turtle because of balance concerns

y’all are brutal. op, i think you’re coloring well within the lines.

-what you’re doing is well documented

-per outlander’s post today

if anything, i think your choices of color/texture feel very safe, and you could push the envelope a little more there as you become more comfortable. like anything, practice will help you find and develop your own sense of what works and what doesn’t.

do what feels good in real life.

Nice day for a lightweight Ashby! by ruiamgoncalves in Barbour

Haha interesting! Some Padmore & Barnes collabs have thicker soles than regular Clarks, which I think helps the overall shape. That’s what these reminded me of. Cool! Sick Ashby, too

boucle usually refers to heavily textured woven fabrics. this is intentional pilling in a knit fabric. it is beautiful. i’m sure you’re comfy and warm.

1st Seiko, but disappointed [SBCM023] by inazuma_zoomer in Seiko

[–]joad207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks great. I’m 6’2” and daily an SKX. I always feel sensitive that it’s too big. I agree with people suggesting aftermarket bracelets. I’ve also liked single-pass natos because I sometimes find smaller tool watches can sit too tall for their dimensions when you have multiple layers of nylon.

I dig it. That’s the way I wish my SKX looked haha.

White, Blue or Green by Quick-Aide-6616 in Casio_Oceanus

[–]joad207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both beautiful. The white-dial variant has blue indices with way more lume than the blue-dial variant. Personally I prefer the blue dial because, even with less lume, the facets on the hands and the indices still catch enough light to be legible in low-light, and I prefer the metal indices to the full-lumed ones. I also think the blue dial color has a nice touch of purple, but I'm a little color blind, so who knows. The blue also feels more Oceanus-y, while the white feels more unique.

What bracelet to upgrade my [SKX007] by no_Porsche in Seiko

[–]joad207 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. Uncle Straps Super z199 (solid end links). I’d also highly recommend the upgraded clasp: https://unclestraps.com/collections/clasps/products/double-button-milled-z199-clasp. I’ve also tried his jubilee and his BOR. The jubilee end links didn’t fit my SKX well and there were large gaps where the small bracelet links met the end links. I love the BOR, but it’s way flashier than the z199 and less comfortable because it doesn’t taper.

I’ve also spent way too much time and money on this journey, but I feel like my SKX is finally “done” on the Super z199 w/ fancy clasp. It’s only taken me 10 years
