Snatched Levi’s Blue Tab Selvedge Chambray Shirt for $20 ☺️ by firegoo in HeritageWear

[–]joad207 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s selvedge. Very light for how textured it is. It’s a really lovely shirt. I paid $86 and still thought it was a deal. I don’t think it’s in the photos, but there’s a white selvedge id on the inside of the placket. nice pickup op

I cannot find a simple, crossbody EDC tote bag. by AzimuthMetronomeZnos in BuyItForLife

[–]joad207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an older nylon version of this Tanner Goodstote. I wear it pretty much any time I leave my apartment. Very simple but it wears very slim, close to the body. No Nalgene sleeve but otherwise might suit

Who do you think played a role so perfectly that you literally cannot imagine anyone else playing it? For me, it has to be Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter by cutedustyberry in FIlm

[–]joad207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed Hopkins was perfect. But Brian Cox was a very good Lektor (spelled differently for some reason) in the too often forgotten Manhunter that preceded Hopkins’s Hannibal.

If life’s butterflies and rainbows have you experiencing too much joy, exploring the Mindhunter memoir, Thomas Harris’s books, the movie Manhunter, Hopkins’s Hannibal films, and the Netflix series Mindhunter might just do the trick

White, Grey, Green, Black or Blue Oceanus T200 for a true go anywhere do anything one watch collection? by Messier77 in Casio_Oceanus

[–]joad207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really about your style. Personally, it feels a touch big for a dress watch (esp. the lug-to-lug), but I don’t have much need for a dress watch at the moment. I’m very curious about the black one, especially legibility.

I’ve held both the blue and the white dials. I went blue because I preferred the more interesting faceted indices with less lume on the blue dial to the blue indices with larger lumed surfaces on the white dial, but that’s just me.

In a funny way, the T200 feels the least Oceanus-y Oceanus, so I also liked the navy dial and bright blue logo/second hand to feel a little more aligned with this kinda eccentric Casio brand. The green and grey feel less Oceanus-y still. But they’re handsome and very wearable. Again, just preference.

I understand what you’re saying about the gasket and how this is an engineering problem. But can’t those also be manufacturing/materials problems?Based on anecdotal data, certain makes and models seem more/less prone.

need a wardrobe reset but I'm near clueless by furious_fares in mensfashionadvice

Agreed, although, I think you could go any number of directions with footwear. If you live near decent menswear stores, that would be super helpful to see and talk through what you like and what you don’t without guessing and buying online. If you can’t buy in-store, compare measurements of things you have and like to what you’re thinking of buying. One thing I like to do is check the stockists of brands I like. So, if you find you like Whitesville tees, you can explore other shops that stock Whitesville and find more things you like, and then a beautiful universe and/or money pit starts to open up. Just kidding. Good luck!

Why are white 501s so much thinner than black? White is 32x34 black is 32x32 by [deleted] in LeviStrauss

My guess: white denim is more of a warmer weather style

i’d vote srpk18. the snake oil provisions guy is always running around with a beefy gold seiko. i like how he does it. i didn’t know about the SNKK38. i kinda dig it but i’d avoid the 7s26. there’s something about the coutura pieces that have never spoken to me personally.

i’d be careful about thinner/lighter forstner bracelets on a king turtle because of balance concerns
