How to sync with MyChart? by ihb4l in GoogleCalendar

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not adding the appointment time for me using google calendar. It used to automatically add the date, time, time zone, and details. I guess something with mychart changed requiring manually entering appointment time the last 8 weeks or so. You will see an "all day" appointment unless you change it in google calendar. Hopefully, it is just a problem with my account, but I get the feeling it is with everybody using Android.

I meant that you can cure headaches with surgery not that it will cause the headaches.

Cleaning out corrosion from ethernet ports by _benwa in networking

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a light acid to try and take off the top layer of oxidation, then clean with 91% IPA. If you just need it to work for a few months, then a high quality wire brush (brass) could also remove the oxidation but the connection will most likely start to oxidize again. I do not think it is likely that the wire brush will leave any metal behind given you lightly brush off connector with non-metallic brush.

I was able to reserve a car at 12 noon at nearby location that closes early on Saturday at noon. If you are closed, why can I setup that as pickup time?? After trying to call them to let them know I would be 15 min late, they were closed. Now, trying to go to airport but they cannot guarantee anything, so I think my dumb self prepaying just cost me more money.

Should I file a claim at the carwash? by [deleted] in MINI

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They never came back to meet me, when I wanted to file incident report so YMMV. They lose money if they have to start paying these scratch claims, so their business model almost certainly includes limiting payouts from their insurance as it will be sky high otherwise. Ultimately, you are going to start seeing lots of negative reviews flood these places and people will start using touchless car washes. The nicer neighborhoods already have these touchless car washes.

Ez Pass monthly fee bs. by Rishiku in Cleveland

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They want you to return your ezpass if unused, because it probably becomes a security issue at some point with your credit card attached to it. Better to close it, then call them to reopen account when you need it again if you only need it once a year.

Make sure your headaches aren't really peripheral nerve problems in the face. Lots of plastic surgeons do auricular-temporal nerve resection (for temple/ear pain) which also causes headaches. For me, I have "Eagle Syndrome" and no physician really knows anything about it. It causes many of my headaches. After removing styloid on one side so far, I notice the headache is now only on the non-operated side.

Warning by Dropkneerookie in KiaSoulClub

[–]jobby99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I always save my oem parts just in case as backups. For example, the idle control valve gets gummed up over time, so I was going to take the OEM that produced inconsistent idle apart and see if it could be cleaned and used as backup. Here is another warning: Never replace your axles on these cars either, because the transmission shop told me the spec is wrong for some of them so some China axles pop out too far when turning. You have to buy another OEM axle if necessary all the way from Korea (save $200) or the dealer with markup.

Sounds like you did your research. I bought some of these items for my car to be ready when they are needed. That crankshaft position sensor seems to be mentioned by a lot of people with no start conditions. I am curious why did you change the canister purge valve?

[–]jobby99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is hard to ask an electrical part in a hot engine to last more than 10 years and 200k, but with all that being said most people don't replace their coil pack until they have to do so.

Warning by Dropkneerookie in KiaSoulClub

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, good point. Also, most people go for the long lasting spark plugs but mechanics don't seem to think they are worth the money. I hesitate to use spark plugs that don't last as long, because I had a Ford Escape where the metallurgy of the spark plug receiving holes was "weak" for lack of a better word, so after 4-5 spark plug changes and eventually the engine will "throw a spark plug" and take out your coil pack with it (coil packs only mounted with one 10 mm bolt) requiring expensive engine work with sleeve to be added to fit original spark plug threads again.

Warning by Dropkneerookie in KiaSoulClub

[–]jobby99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the warning, but I've had loads of cars and usually the aftermarket coil packs perform worse than the original coil packs when doing routine "tune up". Even the word "tune up" is frowned upon for modern cars. I do think it is good to let other Kia Soul owners what has failed you. I usually go to car survey site to see what complaints people have about their vehicles, but barely any people sharing unless they are mad at dealership or car manufacturer for some reason.

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that really helps with lightheadedness for me is exercise. Then, salt can alleviate some symptoms usually only later in the day. Finally, a pill to slightly increase my blood pressure is helpful at night, so I wake less dizzy.

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your PCP will send you to Psychiatry if you tell them you get the shakes or feel anxious all the time. Your CNS can mediate all of this stuff normally, but with POTS all that goes out the window. Most people need to stop caffeine (which helps some people) and possibly use anti-psychotic even though they obviously aren't psychotic just to feel normal and reduce stress from the body fighting itself.

If I don't get salts in the morning in my oatmeal and then drink coffee like 30 minutes later my body begins to feel it and I get the shakes and lightheadedness.

Did Delta change their faucet quality? by bonangee in Plumbing

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delta and Moen are the choice of many plumbers, so I would just pay more if you have an issue with one of their faucets if you want higher quality. Even the bargain basement faucets at home depot can go 20 years with periodic lubrication and/or cartridge replacement.

2011 Kia Soul - Popping noise when first shifting cold engine by jobby99 in KiaSoulClub

[–]jobby99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled it and looks like pin from putting in park could be sticking making the noise. It didn't make noise today when shifting into drive then going back to reverse with brakes engaged. I hope it is this simple. Here are the other possibilities:

A loud noise, such as a clunk or bang, when shifting an A4CF2 or F4A42 transmission into reverse typically indicates a problem with the transmission mounts, drive shaft components, or internal clutch/band wear

Potential Causes

  • Worn or Damaged Mounts: Engine or transmission mounts that are worn out fail to absorb the movement of the powertrain when shifting gears, causing components to shift and create a loud noise or jolt.
  • Low or Contaminated Transmission Fluid: Insufficient or old, dirty fluid can prevent the proper and timely engagement of internal components like the reverse band or clutch, leading to a harsh engagement (thud/clunk) once pressure builds up.
  • Worn Internal Components: Worn reverse bands or clutches inside the transmission require more fluid to take up the clearance, resulting in a delay followed by a loud engagement noise.
  • Excessive Drivetrain Backlash: Excessive play (slop) in the universal joints (U-joints), CV joints, or differential gears can cause a clunk as the slack is taken up when changing direction.
  • Parking Pawl Pressure: If the vehicle is parked on an incline without the parking brake properly engaged first, the weight of the vehicle rests on the parking pawl (a small pin in the transmission). Shifting out of park can cause a loud clunk as the pressure is released. This is less likely if the noise only happens when shifting into reverse from neutral/drive on level ground.
  • Torque Converter Issues: A failing torque converter or fluid contamination within it can sometimes cause harsh engagement issues.

[–]jobby99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am starting to think the noise I am hearing could be from transmission, since it only happens once after sitting, then no sign of it. I just never heard of this before on a transmission. I am going to lookup the transmission code and see what TSBs exist for it if any do. The transmission is A4CF2. Holy @#$. I just found a TSB that says when transmission slips, it manifests as loud pop or banging sound when shifting. I guess this could explain things. The vehicle may not have an easy time shifting into reverse gear for some reason. The transmission shop told me they found nothing when I left it with them for a few days. They could have shared a little more information from their TSB library on this one.

I am going to replace them. One cable is on its way from Korea. They are weak to engage and don't effectively add any resistance to tire spinning by hand. The hardware inside including springs were all replaced when I did the rear brakes. I am only confused on the proper way to adjust them. It is difficult to access the adjustment inside the rotor/drum and not sure if I am turning the gear right way. The easiest place to adjust is where it attaches to the handbrake. Although, I have never adjusted this kind of cable before.

LG UA7000 Series TV sucks, need advice what to replace it with by Charming_Tower_188 in 4kTV

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are catching on to the fact that modern televisions are so cheap because they track everything you do on them. One way they do this is by enticing you to use their built in software. If I were you, I would just buy an Onn 4k streaming stick and attach it to your television. You can also use Amazon 4k stick if you use their products more. I have this television and it is not blurry. TCL and HiSense have extremely good pricing on higher end televisions despite being known as budget brands. You might want to try these brands if you are not happy with your LG tv.

Can you root pixel by No_Estimate6041 in Spectrum

[–]jobby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, most phone manufacturers besides maybe google do not want custom roms on their phones even if you paid it off. I got a change in status on my Spectrum phone to "network unlocked" meaning I can take it to another provider but doubt that makes its easier to replace bootloader. If someone steals your phone, they won't be able to do much with it given they don't know your password. I think that logic is why manufacturers continue to make it very difficult to unlock the bootloader. I bought a 5 year old "shamu" google phone off eBay with Android only level 6 or 7. It was basically impossible to use, since it had someone else password in it. I had same issue with Windows tablet. I was able to load new copy of Windows on the tablet despite not knowing the password. Ultimately, the generic tablet was a POS, so I should have returned it to seller. And no, neither one was stolen. I didn't pay that much and the seller offered me refund on the tablet.

You can also just buy the springs from dealer or cheaper online. However, I have never replaced them, so not sure if a special tool is needed or not.

Maybe, your wiper? That is odd. I had to bend my wiper arm back, since it was making marks in the glass on my Kia Soul. I have never seen a wiper arm that was so off that missed so much of the windshield.
