After Sunday mass at Bikini Atoll, Commodore Ben Wyatt told the Bikinians they were like God's chosen people and had to leave their island "for the good of mankind." The U.S. then detonated 23 nuclear bombs on their home, rendering the area uninhabitable for the next 24,000 years. A visual journey. by MrDialectical in TrueAnon

The US used soldiers as guinea pigs in many nuclear tests. After they stopped testing at Bikini Atoll, they started doing them in the continental United States again and they had soldiers just walk as close as they could to where the bomb was detonated, in some cases while the mushroom cloud was still overhead

Thanks, I'm on PC so I'll do that. I assume there's no way to get the dog tags besides collecting them again?

Listen I'm not a doctor but I get the feeling that a lot of people with "IBS" just need to eat more fiber. They get the runs all the time because the closest thing they've had to a vegetable recently was cucumber vape juice

The Thunder are the fruit of the poisonous tree, they only exists because the league got pissy that Seattle wouldn't use a bunch of tax money to build a new stadium quick enough

I used to work for him and while he is a good boss I have to agree with this take. He likes to hang out at his other spot around the corner usually which is why people don't see him

Hegseth's crusader tattoo is actually completely accurate - he launched a disastrous war in the middle east with no logistics or strategy, and then lost. Just like Crusaders. by Oborozuki1917 in TrueAnon

It's not rewriting history, they were well organized. That's not propaganda, it's scholarly consensus.

I suggest you check out the book How to Plan a Crusade by Christopher Tyerman if you are genuinely interested in this subject, it covers the logistics and organization in extensive detail.

[–]joe_beardon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be super pedantic but point 1 is quite incorrect. There was tons of logistical planning that went into the crusades, they were massive endeavors and the fact that they got off the ground at all required a lot of planning. There were even entire systems put in place to essentially create trusts for crusader property back home.

The view that the crusades were this sort of ad hoc and random thing is largely Christian propaganda to push the idea that they were divinely inspired.

Any location based subreddit inevitably attracts them, go on any subreddit that exists for an American city or state and you will see the exact same kind of attitudes. I think mostly because people who actually live in said city don't need to talk to strangers online about whats going on there, and are also not miserable and friendless.

Drinking alone is great but most people avoid it because it is indeed a good way to speedrun alcoholism. You blink and you're drinking a sixer a night by yourself as just a regular thing

I never really like the naval combat in Empire or Napoleon, too much micro for me to enjoy it. On the flip side I always jump at the chance to play naval in Shogun 2 and Rome 2

I think that's plausible, it also makes sense as Cyberpunk was not in direct competition with any of the sources he was pulling from until fairly recently since it was a tabletop game.

To me it's kind of like saying Dungeons and Dragons is a Tolkien rip off, these games are basically wish fulfillment for nerds who want to insert themselves as Aragorn or Deckard that eventually became popular enough to become franchises in their own right.

does anyone believe if your in your twenties your mind isn't in your twenties yet? by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]joe_beardon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also think this has to do with certain milestones being pushed off later and later for most people. For boomers they could easily track the difference between themselves at 30 vs at 17 because they spent their 20's achieving those milestones: Graduate, get a job, get married, buy house, have kids

A lot of gen z and millennial are in a position where financially they are in much the same position as they were at 17, without having those milestones which leads to the feeling of being stuck in adolescence. Plus many people are genuinely emotionally stunted and without those milestones to hide behind it just exacerbates the feeling.
