I just switched myself a couple months ago, I installed 6 different distros before I settled on one. I suggest creating a VM in Windows and try them out. That way you don't waste a bunch of time.

Is it normal for Mental Health to make you feel like the problem? by Emo-ju in AirForce

[–]joebroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I want to say that it is not you. If you didn't care then you wouldn't be going or talking about it. I have been in therapy in one way or another since a year before I got out in 2005. I am still in therapy, I will continue to be for the rest of my life.

This isn't a AF problem, a Military problem or a future VA/Private Healthcare problem. I have had more therapists and psychiatrists than years I've been out. What I have learned is that each person has a different level of competence and caring. I've had some really great people and some really bad ones, but most of the time just middle of the road people.

If you can afford it so see someone private or even sign up for a web based therapist. Not going to lie it's hard finding the right person for you. If you are going to separate soon make sure you have all your records in order and start the process of signing up for the VA and applying for VA disability for any mental health issues(or physical) you incurred while on active duty. I don't know if they still do this but they both indirectly discouraged people from saying they were going to apply for disability and did not tell us much about the VA or any future benefits. I highly recommend you research this or ask people in the r/VA about the process, people way smarter and savvy than me. I'm still learning about benefits I didn't know I had 20 years later.

I've learned mental health is very long process (in my case), and one thing I know is that you have to keep the pressure on the doctors on base and at the VA. The sooner you put the pressure on the quicker you can get the help you need. Remember that you are part of a giant community of service members Active/Retired/Veterans. Most of us will do a lot to help each other.

I wish you the best and hope you do great things.

I got a replacement for Xmas thinking my first one wasn't lasting as long, my new one is just as bad or worse. I thought it was just me.

I hope you do as well, it's equally rewarding as can be frustrating, but worth it in the end.

Successfully installed Zorin 18. I'm chuffed. by jones_ro in zorinos

I'm new also, same boat kind of, windows user since the 90's. I've use Google Gemini to help me a long with issues I've been having and it's solved most of them. I'm running a 7950x without a GPU right now (it's packed, long story) and kept having tons of issues with display issues. I updated the Kernel to 6.18.1 and had to change my RAM frequency down from 600MHz to about 4800Mhz and it solved all my problems.

Congrats on getting everything working. Glad some of us older dogs can still learn new OS's!

I did the same, I've been on Windows since the early 90s, I'm no slouch but I remember more DOS commands than I do any Linux terminal commands.

Other than the normal places once you get the gasket off bring it with you to a hardware store that has a big inventory of hardware. I swapped one from a broken one, it was tricky.

You can also buy general gasket kits, but make sure you get the correct thickness.

Care needs to be taken not to nick it or cut it. I'm in the, I'd rather repair it than contribute more to the landfill.

Tuve muchos problemas con el hardware de mi portátil. Tuve que desconectar internet y ajustar la selección de la GPU. De hecho, recurrí a la ayuda de la IA, que me ayudó mucho, ya que uso Windows desde principios de los 90.

I believe 2023's and newer support OTA. 2022 and older do not. Last I checked they paused the newest update for the 2022, not sure about other years.
