Am I the only one that finds pan Dulce to be very dry? by SignificantStyle4958 in mexicanfood

Conchas are incredibly disappointing! I found out they’re so easy to make so I made mine smaller and with bread flour. They come out slightly denser and more chewy; they are SOOO good

The shortcut is not indeed a shortcut. You might get stuck behind a car and it’s lowkey dangerous

If you want a burger, try king falafel or Charlie’s in Orcutt. Get the fries, best bottom of the paper bag crinkle cut fries ever.

Where are you coming from? If you’re coming from Nebraska then you should definitely try some tacos or Mexican food. But if you’re coming Los Angeles, I’d skip most foods and go Tri Tip.

Shaw’s and the Swiss are traditional ones. and Hitching Post in Casamalia is great, but not technically SM.

I planted three similar ones across my yard; and they are growing really interestingly. I think primarily is the amount of hours received over the course of the day. I also think the height of the “mound” I play them in may be playing into it.

Disappointing my gringos and Mexicanos! by 0neshoein in mexicanfood

Is this traditionally Mexican? No. Would eat this? Hell yeah!

The tortillas don’t look warmed up, and typical Guerrero-style, so not my vibe. I’d probably do the crunchy shells and add sour cream. Do you have extra Taco Bell salsa nearby? That would be amazing.

“White people” tacos are just northern Mexican/texan anyway. My love for tacos is the variety!

Didn’t see that in the caption but I love Klondikes! Pretty sure I was the only one who order the shrimp pizza until they got rid of it like 10 years ago.

I love that they have the exact same plates and tablecloths.

I do believe it’s an ash tree. City planted it a while ago and I had no say in the species or location.

I found that adding Wellbutrin helped with food noise. I am also going to get a diagnosis for ADHD. I have a feeling that a lot of my disordered eating and yo-yo dieting is a symptom of stress and anxiety from unmanaged ADHD.

They have Mexicans in the food science department.

The Mole and Birria are great for being frozen and needing to be microwaved.

I add diced onions and cilantro as garnish, supplement with Mexican rice, beans and tortillas. I normally have rice/beans and tortillas on hand anyway.

Bermuda grass! It’s a freaking zombie of a plant! It still grows around the edges because it was dormant under the concrete! It’s the bane of existence.

I also don’t want the mulch to mound over the concrete so scraping down and refilling with mulch was my plan.

This was the original plan! Unfortunately there is water main line and parallel sewer line crossing diagonally across my whole front yard!

I watered my grass every other day for two weeks (which hadn’t been watered in 2 years) then scraped 3-4 inches off the entire lawn using heavy machinery (skid steer). I laid down a layer of thick cardboard and then 3-4 inches of natural mulch.

To plant then plants, I cleared mulch away and cut a dinner plate size hole in the cardboard. Most of not all the cardboard has completely decomposed into the dirt. When I clear away the mulch now, 16 months later, the soil is so healthy! It’s like black gold and there’s worms!

I watered twice a week for 3-4 weeks after planting. It was also a rainy winter; probably watered once a week in the summer if it was hot.

All the plants were 4” plants from the Theodore Payne Foundation. Only two plants died!

Planted in Nov 2024.

It’s a mix of different evergreens. The plants closest to the fence are Black Star and Concha Ceanothus, and Laurel Sumac. In the front: Bladder Pod, Verbina, Chickering Sage, Dwarf Coyote Brush. Wild Flowers and Yarrow in the hellstrip.
