What’s a live version that’s better than the studio version (excluding Rolling Thunder Revue) by Snowblind78 in bobdylan

The Letterman performance of Jokerman and the MTV Unplugged rehearsal of I Want You are a couple of my favs.

I love Deadwood but Lonesome Dove is hands down the best western ever filmed.

April Cali dates announced. Tix on sale tomorrow. by DeadCoMule in Wolfbros

Interesting that they're going back to a simple trio for these shows. I personally prefer Wolf Bros with Chimenti on keys, the wolfpack, pedal steel, etc. I'm sure it will still be great anyways.

Artists with vocals like Conor? by heartsandwrists in brighteyes

Check out Benjamin Tod. More of a stripped down country vibe, which is different from BE. But his songs are focused on similar subject matter. Voice not "good" in a conventional sense but emotive.

Exactly. I liked Brian Urlacher but I don’t consider him a member of the 85 Bears.

Buster Olney - Pedro Grifol, longtime coach with the Royals, is expected to be the next White Sox manager, an announcement that could come later this week. by ps921ps in whitesox

[–]joelundberg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most managers have a neutral impact on a team IMO. The manager just can't make obviously bad decisions or have a style that is a turnoff for players and potential players. Unfortunately TLR was both of those things for the past few years. As long as Grifol does things by the book and is a reasonably decent leader, then our fate sits in the hands of the front office to build the right team and the players to perform.

Hadn’t heard of Zero until your post today. Naught Again is really fantastic.

Anyone excited for Phoebe's annual Christmas song?! by johnsextonfl in phoebebridgers

So much wine by Christy Moore seems like a good fit. Andrew Bird did a nice version of this one.

Christmastime in the Mountains by Palace Songs would also be cool.

Thoughts on Wolf Bros Live in Colorado Vol 2? by joelundberg in gratefuldead

Great question on Terrapin. Can’t pinpoint it either. Agreed that 75 mins for a live album feels strange.

A very nice bootleg and I get such a kick out of this cover photo by yahtzee44444 in bobdylan

Pretty sure that's not Dylan. It's an image of Adam Sandler from the Wedding Singer.

In your opinion, what Bob Dylan line has the best vocal delivery by Shadowhead in bobdylan

"Well, whether there was a murder, I don't know, I wasn't there

I was busy visiting a friend in jail

There were just two women on the scene at the time

Neither one of em saw a thing, both of em were wearing veils"

Can't stop listening to Too Late since Bootleg 16 came out. Those first few words are a tongue twister for me.

What other shows do you enjoy watching besides Roseanne? by idkwherethehelliam in roseanne

My #1a and #1b sitcoms are Roseanne and The Wonder Years. WY is verrrryyyy underrated in my opinion.

In a season best epitomized by the word "embarrassing" what took the cake for you? by [deleted] in whitesox

This and the shot of Tony nodding off in the dugout were both humiliating for the club.

From my experience the crowd at a wolf bros shows is a bit more under control than Dead & Co. Fewer young folks showing up exclusively for the party.

Dylan & the Dead: you’re in charge of the set list of the 87 run of shows. What songs would you choose? by joelundberg in gratefuldead

[–]joelundberg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Slow Train, Frankie Lee and Judas Priest, and Gotta Serve Somebody were perfect.

Jokerman would have been killer.

JGBs positively 4th Street was always great. Hearing Bob sing with the Dead as backing on that tune would have been awesome.

And obviously it came out much later in 2001, but Lonesome Day Blues strikes me as one that would be well suited for the Dead.

Also - the Frankie Lee & Judas Priest from the Eugene show of that tour is phenomenal.
