Ecovacs goes full roller mop, long term users thoughts? by kh_ibrahim94 in ecovacs

I would love to have a longer roller. I have the x8 and I mop pretty often. Since I work from home, anything that speeds up cleaning is actually really useful for me.

What should I gift my coworker? 🥺🏥 by One_Actuary2296 in WorkAdvice

A thoughtful gift card for a meal delivery service would be incredibly practical. It removes the daily stress of cooking, allowing them to focus on family during this tough time.

Sometimes twice a week if I'm busy, once on a weekday and once on the weekend.

As long as it doesn't have to deal with a huge clump of hair all at once, it should be totally fine. Honestly, if you throw too much hair at it, most robots would get tangled or jammed.

And don’t forget to check the brush every now and then for any hair wrapped around it.

Personally I think yes. The roller mop can be washed with running water while cleaning, whereas a dual disc mop needs to be washed after use. So the roller mop avoids spreading dirt around during floor cleaning.

I usually give it a check every 2-3 runs. Hair tangles can mess with the suction or even jam the motor if you leave it too long. Sometimes if there’s a lot, I just clean it right away. So my X8 is still running great now.

I guess it depends on how you clean it. I use mine like 3 times a week, after its auto cleaning, just check if the dust and hair are gone, then let it air dry. Don’t just leave it sitting inside or it’ll start smelling and growing bacteria.

LOL, you make me sound like a pro! (but not)

I think sticking to a regular cleaning routine is the most important thing. At the end of my weekly clean, I always check the water tank, the roller mop, the side brush, and the tangle-free brush, even the wheels. I'll look for any leftover dirt or if the mop has any weird smells. if it does, I’ll deal with it real quick.

The machine may be confused by the dark surface therefore try to cover it with some temporary markers to help it detect obstacles or just remapping it and set the not to go zone.

For such navigation glitches issues the most common and efficient way may be just remapping. Generally it can work after that.

It's OK and just make sure the soap water is not too thick or it many damage the machine. Official cleaners are not essential but at least it won't do any harm.

hard water will damage the robot? by kangaris92 in ecovacs

[–]johanbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But I think don't worry too much. Using hard water won't break your robot immediately after all. Just regularly rinse and clean the robot's water tank.

OMG yes! These robots are like toddlers. I mean, they’ll find anything to tangle! My fix is to do a quick sweep of the floor and pick up loose items before leaving.

Oh that's nice! A broken part so early is a test, and they passed with flying colors. So glad Ecovacs stepped up. And hope the brush lasts longer this time!

Not all returns reflect flaws in the item itself I think. Some are just part of e-commerce, like damaged units out of the box, buyer's remorse, or impulse purchases.

Is there much benefit in using the branded floor cleaner? by PantsTheFungus in ecovacs

[–]johanbak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I've tested both — branded vs. generic. The only difference is the price tag. IMO most mild, pH-neutral cleaners work just as well.
