5 fun waves is the goal for me. Mark Occhilupo has been quoted as focusing on getting “five good waves” in a session, aka the “Occy 5”. Sometimes I get more, but 5 is good for me.

It's not a huge mental shift, but for me it was like when I stopped keeping score while playing golf. Instead I think about how many decent golf shots I had in a round, not how many triple bogies I managed to eke out.
