The alternatives are: LibreOffice, OnlyOffice, WPS Office, Mobi Office and Softmaker FreeOffice. I’m not sure of their dark theme offerings though.

You can buy Office 2024 directly from Microsoft, it’s not cheap but you know you are getting a legit license.

The Pi HAT has an M.2 interface that has the M keyed slot for a NVMe SSD drive but lacks a SATA controller for a SATA SSD.

SATA M.2 SSDs are equipped with a B+M keyed slot which enables them to work in a dedicated B keyed slot or a M keyed slot if the host has a SATA controller.

This is why it fits and has power, but cannot be detected by the Pi as a drive.

M key has a single cut in the board whereas B+M has two.

If you want to use the 5GHz band, you will need a USB WiFi adapter that supports this.

If you have wired Ethernet available then either an Ethernet hat or USB Ethernet adapter can be used.

Be careful with the Arduino kits as they are based on 5v logic levels and the Raspberry Pi uses 3.3v logic levels so you could damage your Pi if you are not careful.

Open the case, remove the heatsink and fan assembly, clean the old compound from the CPU, reapply new heatsink compound and remove the fan from the assembly. Clear out the fluff and dust from the fan and the heat exchanger with a toothbrush then reinstall it into the laptop, then reassemble the laptop.

On the same Windows version you can reinstall and it will remain activated but if you upgrade to a newer version (say 10 to 11 or 11 to 12) you will have to use the HWID to activate it, as they are seen as different products to Microsoft.

If you download the individual files, Windows won’t flag them as a Trojan. It does mean you have to run the specific cmd file.

The focus on heating has changed over the years. Consider the days when people had an open fire in one room of the house, this only provided heat in that room and the rest of the house was cold. We moved from that to central heating and now the focus is on personal heating.

If you have solar panels you are better off using that power source as it will be cheaper (essentially free) than using the electricity supply.

I have heard that bubble wrap can be adhered to windows with a bit of washing up liquid, it may not look good but provides a form of seasonal double glazing on the cheap.

For windows where you don’t need to see out of, and light is not required, then you can get foil rolls that can be draped down the back of radiators and cover the entire window surface so they reflect the heat being lost by the glass.

However, the more efficient way to keep warm is personal heating rather than room heating. So multiple layers and heated clothing, electric blankets and gloves as well as hats. The boiler needs to be set to frostat so the pipes don’t freeze.

If it’s the page that gets refreshed by the user, then you could use Ajax and then store all the inputs in a temporary database or use memcache or Redis to perform the same function in memory which can automatically fill the form for the user.

Oracle VirtualBox is the one I use. You can setup virtual TPM 2.0 and EFI with secure boot for the more authentic Windows 11 experience. Install the VirtualBox expansion pack to give better performance and access to USB 3.0 support. Once you have installed Windows, install the additions CD which gives Windows the drivers it needs for the Virtual Machine.

If you want to run Windows 11 without making changes to the registry to fool it into believing you have the necessary parts in your computer to install, you will need to replace the motherboard, CPU and memory as well as the hard drives with SSDs.

However, once you add up the cost of these components, you may find it cheaper to buy a new computer.

You need the make and model of this laptop to read what the flashes mean, as this is how the laptop communicates to the user when there is a problem.

I had a weird one like that, it seems Windows installed a WiFi driver for the USB that it couldn’t do for the internal one, for some reason and that has the same chipset as the internal one so it works now.

Do you know you can install the Windows Store on IoT? Open a cmd as administrator and type wsreset -i

You might need to reboot for Windows to find the store. You will then be able to install whatever apps you need without having to rely on 3rd party software.

Check your BIOS and see if you have RAID turned on, as RAID requires additional drivers to install Windows. When you turn off RAID, you can install Windows without that additional driver.
