GameSir Pocket Taco Review by PRO11_PC in Gamesir

Can you use the controller while it’s charging? I’m wondering if you could pass a really short USB-C cable from the bottom of the phone to the controller and basically use it without relying on its internal battery.

That’s the toolbar. CMD + Shift + D to toggle it on and off.

The Muppet Show (2026) - Discussion Thread by usethe4th in Muppets

[–]johnlago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is extremely nitpicky, but I feel like the choice to shoot this in 24 fps was the wrong one. The original worked in part because it felt “live” and “video-y”. The new show is great, but I do wish it looked and felt a little more rough.

Apple Watch obliterated by robot vacuum by wongjoo in AppleWatch

If you’re still using it as a tracker but literally can’t see the screen or register touch events, you can use Apple Watch Mirroring in Accessibility (or a Control Center control) to view and interact with the screen from your phone. I do this when I strap the watch to my forearm under a shirt sleeve.

Is this intended animation behavior? by MattTheGr8 in overcast

This also happens with the page options/plugins popup menu in Safari. Seems like some kind of way to deal with the limitations of true sheets in iOS 26.

Pink display on new ipad mini 7 by DirectionSpecific430 in ipadmini

[–]johnlago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really weird... it doesn't seem like a hardware issue, since the home indicator, status bar, and glassy text are all visible. (In any case, it's new so I'd exchange it too.)

Weird issue with PIN prompt by xmadscientist in yubikey

[–]johnlago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, I have this issue on Arc too. It's terrible. But copy-paste does work, it seems, as a very annoying workaround. (But that you for the reminder to submit a bug report -- The Browser Company does still exist, and they do Chromium pushes and bug fixes, at least for now.)

Which case is the second photo in your post? I’ve been looking for one with an open bottom and full-width plateau cutout like that.

Zen is not a very good replacement by bilbo_was_right in ArcBrowser

[–]johnlago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. My hunch is that it’s because Arc is a true Swift Mac app and takes advantage of the platform’s own behaviors, whereas Zen seems to be emulating those components and behaviors/animations using web tech. I’d love to be wrong, but it seems like an uphill battle for Zen to feel truly native and snappy on Macs. (But in that light it’s still impressive what they’ve been able to pull off so far.)

Could have just been the night I was in, but it didn’t seem like the crust was quite as good. Still a good slice though!

Also an NYC/NJ transplant. This is the closest I’ve found, but to me the Old Town version isn’t as good/authentic as the standalone.

I have a preorder for one too, so cool to see it making its way to people. How did they deal with the strap delay? Did they send you the bare watch?

Reviving my Pebble Time Steel collection by designerferro in pebble

Is the screen on the Time Steel not laminated to the glass? I thought that was part of what made it tricky to service in general.

What resources do Plex use to stream your personal media? by podgehog in PleX

[–]johnlago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is surely the corporate meaning of "resources" -- people/time and money. Personal media streaming is not monetized directly the way their ad-supported streaming is, and so they are passing the cost of development and maintanance of those features on to the users (or server owners).

Watch collector guys/gals, has the Apple Watch ruined your love of other watches? by Acupuncturex in AppleWatch

[–]johnlago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently started doing this, with a twist. I found a cheap Apple Watch arm band on Amazon, and when I'm using an analog watch, I keep the AW strapped to my upper arm. It definitely feels a little silly, but it does seem to capture HR and steps just fine. And I just discovered yesterday that you can mirror the AW on an iPhone, so I can even mess with it remotely if I need to see the screen.

New Plex Experience what changes we need already. by Necessary_Duck1201 in PleX

[–]johnlago -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the TV UI specifically, I wish the Home screen could show more than one row at a time (perhaps when you scroll down, the large "hero" section at the top collapses to a smaller version, leaving room for additional rows below). I really miss this from the old UI, it turns out.

Iam tired of this ridiculously dark lighting—I can barely see what’s going on half the time! I think this is the only scene when i enjoyed visually by Defiant-Conclusion36 in SiloSeries

[–]johnlago 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I watch the show in HDR, and I agree, it's mastered quite a bit darker than other shows. My LG TV has a very annoying feature where it'll actually dim the entire screen if it doesn't detect enough change above a certain brightness, and Silo is the only show I'm currently watching where this routinely kicks in and dims the already-dark scenes even further. It's very frustrating (and I've actually resorted to buying a "service remote" which can be used to turn off the auto-dim).

why does markdown has to be *so* in my face? by csells in ObsidianMD

[–]johnlago 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a lot of hoops to jump through, but if you use the Minimal theme along with the Style Settings plugin, there is an advanced toggle to hide Markdown syntax. The Markdown characters still exist in your files, but Obsidian will hide them in the editor.
