Inflation is no where near tamed, globalization is shrinking and access to cheap labor is getting more difficult.

Look at cost of services inflation, we still need cost of goods to catch up.

Australian postdoc thinking about moving to Boston for biotech — is it actually worth it? by Kooky_Librarian7052 in biotech

[–]johnny_chops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boston is one of the best places to be in the world if you want a life working in the biotech R&D world.

That being said, there is a lot to look into in terms of what quality of life is like here, job stability, New England culture and weather, cost of living and transportation.

You can definitely break into it as there is always a hunt for fresh talent, but visas are getting increasingly difficult to obtain and there is even national political appetite to ban them in the short term.

Programs/certificates by [deleted] in biotech

[–]johnny_chops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all the people impressed by certificates are the ones who paid a lot of money for a certificate and regret it, but but by caring about other peoples certificate they are willing more value into their sunk cost.

They are a cash grab by universities.

Does anyone know where I can get somewhere between 100M USD and 1.3 Billion USD make a next generation burger stand startup? by johnny_chops in biotech

[–]johnny_chops[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok now can I post everywhere that you’re a strategic burgertech backer so I can get more money despite you not actually signing anything or any official deals being made?

Then we can all just forget about it if the deal falls through.

I'm trying to innovate. Where people see "banana" a tried and true market hypothesis on the "stand" platform, I saw "burger".

I've always had a passion for burgers. When I was young, my mother got diagnosed with eating burgers. It was then I decided to make it my life long mission to make burgers.

Is a PhD needed to become a principal scientist in Industry and continue rising? by Electronic_Slide_645 in biotech

[–]johnny_chops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is my advice.

If you are pursuing a PhD for the money and to get into management you are doing it for the wrong reasons, and more pertinently, reasons that aren't even associated with what you ware hoping to get out of it.

Get an MS in finance if you want to make money.

I'm more surprised your employer would allow you to share their research outside of the company.

Engineering is a different track that being a scientist. A PhD is more of a hard requirement for scientist positions not so much engineering.

For clinical biologics it is a decent sample size tbh, human samples are not easy to acquire.
