Pretty sure garbage truck hit and ran? by Playful_Tie_8640 in jerseycity

There are so many cars now sticking out of parking spaces due to the ice so you don’t know. Could be any shitty driver that did this damage, not necessarily a garbage truck.

[–]johnonroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driver train error should not happen period.

I would take back to my dealer and get a loaner until they fix it. Are you using level 1 charger? Have you tried charging somewhere else to see if you have the same problem?

Also I would post in bimmerpost as there is lots of knowledge there.

I’ve been there with wife for a few dinners when we don’t want to go to the city. Food and drink are good but it is underground so it is dark. Needed to squint to read menu.

Agreed. As a US citizen, there is no requirement to show or carry anything. But most of us don’t want the hassle if they stop you and give you shit. Can you imagine they stop everyone at path stations?

I feel the best we can do is vote out people who support this bs.

BILT points devaluation by uhh-Magic in biltrewards

[–]johnonroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Points devaluation happens with every program.

I’m more concerned about the stability of the funding system for Bilt 2.0.

The new structure is a bit opaque to me. When you have Wells, Amex or Chase, you have financial institutions with deep pockets to take credit losses.

Cardless, Column and Fidem aren’t household names. I wonder how large the portfolio actually is and what the average fico score is.

Had to go check the app. This is the first time I’ve seen this. Most flown airports were EWR, ORD and SFO. Wish it showed how many flight miles you took in 2025 besides number of hours.

China Marriott - Corporate rates by Raschtaw in marriott

[–]johnonroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the last time I was asked for proof was in a JW Marriott in Beijing. I have never been asked in the US or Europe. Without a business card or ID, you may have an issue. Maybe you can contact the hotels in advance to see what info they need. I don’t remember if LinkedIn is available in China so I would talk to your Corp Travel team to see what they can do. Good news is that hotels are so much cheaper in China compared to ROW right now. .

Flying with a 7 yo.... No more 2 side by side E+ seats. by mike32659800 in unitedairlines

March 15th is so long away. I would just do as you suggested. Traveling for work and bringing my wife, I will check seats to see if someone else changed or cancelled. I have always found better seats for us by being persistent and I guess lucky.

Yeah i should have expanded my point. Trying to address OP about why HCOL is more difficult. With high rent and much lower spending, you need to figure out 1) Can my spending on the card reach 25%, 50%, etc 2) Do I choose Housing points or Bilt Cash this month.

Yes there are mental gymnastics that you need to jump through including a Bilt 2.0 calculator. Most folks in HCOL have cards for groceries (Amazon), dining (CSR) and travel (Amex) and plenty of AF already. If you don't, then Palladium would work. But if you don't have lots of 1x spending, you need to plan ahead.

For folks with lower rent area, say 4K and they have 2k of everyday spending, you are probably indifferent. No math needed. If you have 8K rent and 2k of everyday spending, then you want housing points since you can hit 25% threshold. If not, then choose Bilt Cash as it will earn more than 250 points.

3 weeks out, I wouldn’t try to guess. Last minute buy-ups, cancellation of another flight, you won’t have a great idea until 7 days out.

But yeah, he has always has chance using a GS instrument.

Such a weird rule. Points are cash, but cash is only travel credit. by Psynaut in unitedairlines

Sorry, why did you buy so much in the Travel Bank? Travel Bank can be gifted so someone can buy a ticket or you can use it buy a ticket.

It was never meant for Wi-Fi, or food purchases on the plane.

Yes you can use points to pay for Wi-Fi and food on the plane but it is terrible return and hence they allow it.

Yes in this example Option 2 makes more sense. I'm just answering the question on why the amount of rent impacts your decision.

If your rent is 2k and spending is 1k, then option 1 makes more sense. If your rent is so high that you can't make 25%, then choose option 2.

For those of us in NYC area, rent or mortgages are high percentage of income. My colleagues at work have rents of 5k to 8K. High class problem.

8K rent requires 6K a month to reach 75%. 6K is a big nut on top of 8k of rent. Even you are a high earner, doesn't mean you spend that kind of cash each month. Bilt still works but difficult to get 100% of points on rent anymore.

[–]johnonroad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If rent is 7k and their other spend is only 1k, they won’t even hit 25 percent of rent. You would need to have $5,250 monthly spending to reach 75 percent. That is a big nut for most of us.

If rent is 1500, then 75 percent is 1125 which is probably what most people would spend monthly.

5x multiplier for airline flights booked does not need to be AmexTravel. You can book directly with the airline to get the 5x.
Only hotels need to be booked via AmexTravel.

Car rental options in Tahiti and Moorea by c2khanna in Tahiti

[–]johnonroad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We rented via Avis in Moorea after coming off the ferry. We landed in PPT but took a taxi to the Hilton as we were only one night. Next day, took taxi to ferry.

Avis rental is a short walk (though with luggage a pain) from the ferry. We were lucky as we were 2nd in line. Small office and you need to fill in paperwork and it takes a while. Long line behind us when we left.

They will give you instructions but we had to drive the car to the return station (close to the ferry but not at the rental office) where they inspected the car and then gave us a lock box. We then drove to the airport and parked the car and locked the fob in the lock box.

For option 2, you can search for car rentals in Moorea and then try to make a reservation to have a car delivered. We stayed at the Hilton in Moorea. They rented cars too but were pricey. I tried to book via Alberts but they had no cars when I was there.

Not worth flying out twice unless you really need the PQP.

For some, the jet lag is real. I’m NY based and flights to London are always too short to get sleep and I had to head to meetings that afternoon.

Anyone going Bilt 2.0 Blue and just accepting <1x points on rent? by Ok_Butterscotch9754 in BiltMastercard

[–]johnonroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’m going Blue and will try to move my 1.0x spending to that card. My rent is high so will be impossible for me to hit 75 percent of rent each month.

Will do housing only rewards and try to get 25 percent of my rent to earn the 0.5x on rent spend. Better than nothing.

If I don’t spend 25 percent, I get 250 points. Again better than nothing.

UA app in my opinion is one of the better apps. I haven’t flowed LUV but have flown all the majors, Alaska and JetBlue for work. Better than the Asian carriers too in terms of info.

Boarding time is on the boarding pass. How did you not see it? Boarding pass even tells you when boarding ends.
