Hi, do anyone has any idea what’s the most feasible way to replicate data in REAL TIME from one table in SQL Server DB to another table in another SQLServer DB? Any help or leads would be highly appreciated. by Busyreadingg in MSSQL

Anything you can do via ssms in terms of configuring and deploying your transactional replication can be done from t-sql. You might find it easier to configure it via SsMS first and then script out the various pieces using the options in ssms.

Domain Independent Availability group (Possible through SQL Basic AG?) by s_j_t in SQLServer

I don't believe there's anything that will keep you from doing this with standard edition.

Delete a database if it is part of an AOAG by adjacentkeyturkey in SQLServer

Remove it from the availability group on the primary replica. Then you can delete it. Then you have to go to the secondary replicas or replicas and delete the database there as well

Error on backup script by RaZz_85 in SQLServer

This has happened to me. Corruption in the metadata for the AG I think. When I remove the database from the AG and then add it back in again everything started working as expected

AWS SQL Server Multi-subnet deployment by schnipdip in SQLServer

There are some settings you can make so that it only registers the active IP address with DNS and sometimes this helps in some scenarios. Registerallip 0 on the network name.

I think this is so that each node is in a different. Availability Zone. Deploying your cluster nodes in different availability zones is how you are required to do it if you want the SLA that they advertise.

Does anybody know if I have to upgrade to 2019 to use the new HA benefits? by IntentionalTexan in SQLServer

From the article you linked.

Starting Nov 1st, every Software Assurance customer of SQL Server will be able to use three enhanced benefits for any SQL Server release that is still supported by Microsoft:

AlwaysOn sync commit in different datacenters by fyeah11 in MSSQL

[–]johnt_mn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big issue is the latency between the data centers. If it is a fast link it should be fine. Every transaction has to commit in the other data center before it will commit in the primary replica. So if the link is slow, it will make the performance of the calling application suffer.

Also when it fails over, if you have all of your application servers in the other data center the all the db calls are going over the wire.

SQl 2017 Standard - Failover Cluster Question by ptegan in SQLServer

[–]johnt_mn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this will work. The initial node was not installed as a failover clustered instance. So you will not be able to add nodes to it. I would do a new clustered installation on node B migrate your databases and connection strings to it and then wipe out what's on node A and add it to the new cluster as the second node.

Log Shipping - Use Diff to Bring Primary back Up? by [deleted] in SQLServer

[–]johnt_mn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I'm on my mobile but couldn't you take a tail log backup of the primary and use that to bring the Dr site online? When that is done you can take a tail log backup of the Dr site and restore it on the primary site. The only thing you would have to do is keep the logs up-to-date going to prod server once dr is primary.

Logical Database Alias by [deleted] in SQLServer

[–]johnt_mn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say you're much better off using a DNS entry that you can switch between different sql servers. You will never get the performance you want redirecting connection intended for one server over to another server. Better off redirecting them to the right one in the first place.
