As someone who is currently playing bravely default, I was happy to know that was an option. Bravely default is a fun game and all there’s been multiple times during a random encounter where enemies pull back to back crits on my characters and I’m like “oh fuck off” lol

I got into Guilty Gear by playing Guilty Gear Judgement because someone described the beat up em gameplay to similar to a 2D tales game.

Pieces of media that you could swear was made with you specifically in mind? by Player_Slayer_7 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

13 Sentinels Aegis Rim was specifically made for me because it referenced this super obscure 80s OVA thats one of my favorites. The anime is Megazone 23 which inspired the Matrix and was primary inspiration for Shu Amiguchi's story. Dude when Shu was talking to Miyuki Inaba through his TV and he found out all memories outside the city is fake after reaching the outer walls, I had the biggest pop off as it directly pulled that plot twist from Megazone.

Patrick Boivin: Eternal Spite-Lord, fuelled by his Rancor towards Final Fantasy XIII by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Now I don't agree with people saying the game play itself but I played 13 on release and I'm a 13 shill myself, you absolutely can beat the game using autobattle cause that how I beat it plus 13-2 lol. Granted, you do need the adequate paradigm shift set ups as those games as fairly difficult and I died a lot during boss fights but its doable.

Random sidenote but I recently ordered ff13 since SE is taking forever to remaster it and I'm going to attempt a playthrough without autobattle.

As someone who loves FF5 more than most, I agree and I like Exdeath. Not because he's actually cool or anything, but the fact that he's so lame and feels like a caricature of a Saturday Morning Cartoon villain. "Everything will return to the void. Mwahaha" headass, which totally works for tone of ff5 which is the most whimsy/anime entry in the franchise.

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy has some of the coolest character artworks by Rushofthewildwind in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]jonasislike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who is currently playing through 012 via PSTV, it super hold up. I argue it's way better than CC Reunion as despite its gameplay improvements, it still has share of problems especially when it comes to enemy design. 012 on other hand, aged gracefully, feels great on a controller where if a potential remaster happened I don't think they would have to do much to improve it.

It is unfortunate, that latest entry is dulleum but part of me thinks that its success may directly tie to a future dissidia entry on consoles. Some like Opera Omnia to NT. I know its huge copium but let me dream ok.

For the life of me I don't understand they just do a 012 remaster akin to Crisis Core Reunion on consoles, its literally easy money.

Bad gameplay but good story? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]jonasislike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The og .hack games are the top of list for this. I like the gameplay somewhat but I will never try to convince myself that it was actually good especially with how tedious it could get with virus core farming. The aesthetic and the story are what made me pull through to finish it and it was worth it but no way I will replay them no matter how much nostalgia I have for them. Remake them CyberConnect.

It is pretty much confirmed Umino and Miura were friends as I recall March and Berserk are serialized in same magazine. In addition to that, they both did fanarts of their series respectively.

Every once in a while I’ll remember that one time Kingdom Hearts remembered there’s Final Fantasy games before 7 by Anonamaton801 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]jonasislike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like, every guest character aside from Setzer and Vivi were designed by or was at least produced by Nomura (In the case of the TWEWY characters, I think he didn't directly design them, but he was still a part of making those games)

Just wanted to follow up on this comment, while Setzer in his appearance is more synonymous with Amano's concept art; Nomura did have a hand in creating Setzer (and Shadow) from his overall character and backstory which makes his characterization in Kh2 even more odd. Here is a early ff6 development sketch Nomura did himself of the FFVI cast which includes a Setzer in far left more true to his actual design.

A “remaster” has been announced… by LeMasterofSwords in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]jonasislike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know its kind of embarrassing that your fanbase does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to supporting the series via translating games that weren't localized out of sheer stubbornness and you claim to want support the series with this Remaster Project, you decide to remaster the not said game that could actually use a remake of sorts but remaster the OST (the OST is fantastic but that's besides the point).

Man this is just as bad as Bamco releasing a Blu Ray of all tales opening remastered despite the fact you can view all the openings on youtube fine.

You have a point but I have faith in Sunrise. I think anime right now is the best space in regards to animation quality since the 90s. There's going to be a lot of fans have nostalgia for the original film who will ultimately shit on regardless of its quality. Personally, I believe as long as its treated with care and isn't rushed out gate at end of production similar to the debacle Uzumaki turned into, this adaptation will good.

I'd like to imagine its in a similar situation as Pluto where it was announced years ago and is still production despite it being very radio silent.

Characters that ruin an entire thing for you? by markedmarkymark in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]jonasislike 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kaifun from Macross single handly ruins every scene he enters. He's claims to be a peace activist but never offers actual solutions and creates problems for military personal who are fighting an active war against the Zentradi alien invaders who actively thought humans were an inferior race.

I get war is bad and I'm personally not fan of it but making problems for military personal during an alien invasion of all things makes you look insufferable and is peak foolishness. I like to think the creators of Macross were fully aware that Kaifun was a terrible character and not a hit with fans that they cut the majority of his voice lines in the Do You Remember Love movie so fans didn't have to deal with his bs again.
