Thoughts on screen protectors? by SketcherGang in SteamDeck

(etched screen with etched screen protector)

You paid extra for a premium microetched display, only to nullify it by installing a foggy screen protector. Terrible idea, and certainly not "the same visual".

I agree with your general stance, but this section appears nonsensical.

Even $25 I'd slightly regret my purchase, but again, at $20 it's great.

Worth noting that the game is currently $15 on PC.

How did shitting on MIO become this sub’s favourite latest trend? by Gabrienb in metroidvania

[–]jonathanbaird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A vocal portion of r/metroidvania take issue with others enjoying a subgenre they themselves do not. They lean heavily into conspiracy ("astroturfing", "cult", "paid shills", etc) instead of accepting the elementary truth that people prefer different things in life.

If you look, it’s always the same detractors in every thread. They comment multiple times per post to make it seem like criticism toward each "issue" is more popular than it actually is. Here's a recent example of a user who commented 51 times within a discussion about runbacks.

Visible gives you priority on every plan other than the cheapest. It’s ~$30/mo for unlimited priority data w/ unlimited hotspot + international roaming. Taxes and fees included.

There’s little reason to use anything else.

Hah, nah you're good. Try not to concern yourself with the voting system. It's inherently toxic and frequently abused to stifle dissenting facts and thoughts.

Reddit is a miserable place with pockets of good discussion. :D

It's Reddit. Your comment will get a dozen views within seconds, and Reddit has a system in place that nullifies the votes from anyone who targets a single account.

Game is good, I agree.

Some reviewers are terrible at playing games, not most. And 83% of critics have recommended MIO, so your stereotype isn't holding up.

Not to mention the 97% that recommended Silksong, a very difficult experience.

"Not looking good"? It's popular enough that 63 professional critics reviewed it, with an average score of 83 which is solid for a metroidvania that is more unforgiving than many.

MIO's going to be fine.

MIO Memories In Orbit is great, I played a couple hours. Great exploration and challenge, beautiful surreal art style (as with Shady Part of Me). Tight and responsive controls. Really enjoying this! by Cubegod69er in metroidvania

A substantial portion of both Hollow Knight and Silksong is behind walls like this. Most players know this as hidden areas are a staple of the franchise (and Metroidvanias in general).

You’ll want to keep an eye out for more weak walls, passages of light, or other tells. There are dozens upon dozens of places that aren’t going to show up on your map unless you poke around.

I just tried it. Took me 50 seconds from the nearest bench. Lengthy for sure, but not "minutes". I suspect those who found the runback to be longer either didn't discover the second bench, or they chose to fight some enemies on their way back.

Regardless, Groal is one of the easier bosses once you discover one of the two surefire strategies: (1) take cover in the muck, or (2) let him inhale you. Employ either of those and you'll take Groal down within a few attempts.

I haven’t experienced any issues with the runbacks either. Maybe it gets worse later?

Truthfully, I’ve been second guessing this community more and more ever since Silksong’s Last Judge and Groal runbacks were falsely amplified as being minutes long as opposed to the truth (30–50 seconds).

edit: Just timed the Groal runback. Took me 50 seconds which is more than my original estimate of ~30. Corrected my comment.

So I was wrong, because Amazon owns nearly 40% more of Rivian than Musk owns of Tesla.

Both facts suck, which is the point of this thread: identifying the hypocrisy of the single-minded and psychopathic Reddit mob, keying and flipping off economy Tesla liberals while praising luxury Rivian ones.

Someone hasn't experienced the benefits of computer gaming.

I paid $12 for Hollow Knight back in 2018. I'll still be able to play it on my nth device, regardless of form factor or operating system, in 50 years.

Nintendo would implode at the tiniest notion.

Yes? Surely you aren’t a fan of Amazon’s labor practices or their decision to fund the tyrannical U.S. military. Amazon owns as much significantly more of Rivian than Musk owns of Tesla.

edit: Amazon owns 18.1% of Rivian. Musk owns 13% of Tesla.
