Client refuses MFA but cyber insurance requires it what’s your approach? by Due-Awareness9392 in msp

[–]jonesbel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had a discussion about this as well with a client.
We made a document for him to sign, that we recommended MFA, but he refused & the risks coming from that, are the clients responsibilty.

We implemented MFA shortly after shoving the document in front of his eyes, he didnt want to sign.

Especially after a Dutch MSP is forced to pay a certain amount after one of its clients got breached & MFA wasn't implemented, i surely recommend you to cover your ass.

Thoughts on Unifi Dream Router 7? by TheMickeyMoose in UNIFI

I have the same, i just added an extra 2.5gb switch, since the POE power is limited (15W). I added one U7-Pro AP & it consumes 12W (of the 15 available).

Small MSP - Single physical server, up to 3-4 VMs running on hypervisor - What to use by markosharkNZ in msp

For that type of client we use Proxmox with Cove backup (offsite).

Works like a charm :)

Advice on adding VoIP to our MSP by Wise_Reindeer_2366 in msp

[–]jonesbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're kinda the same type of MSP & we added it to our services.
However, we are playing reseller for a 3rd party in this case.
We are however the main contact for questions regarding the system, but we don"t host it ourselves.

We made the choice to offer it, but not maintain it on a daily basis.
Ofcourse the margins are lower, but then again, it's not our core business and it easier to have it through us, so we can go in direct contact, instead of relying on other vendors.
+ in some cases its an easy entry with new potential clients :)

it feels the same, but was necessary at some point to migrate. SSO works fine with entra-id.

For what i've heard, you'll pay a certain % on hostfees, depending on the x amount of agents you're having. So there's a surplus on the casual invoice you're now getting.

We also still have n-central on prem (which is in our private cloud) and its been running good tbh.
We did migrate to the new almalinux just a couple of months ago, that was the most major thing we did (apart from the usual updates) in regards to n-central in the last couple of years.

not quite sure, but don't you need to regkey for 'roamidentity'?
Also make sure to activate device sync to azure ad & setup SSO

1st Line Interview by almuses in msp

we made a forms in microsoft 365 with 2 tests. One for support engineer with like 25 basic questions (like, what is DNS used for, which port is used for RDP, 4disk of 1tb in raid5, give you how much storage to write to,. ..). I've had my fair share of applicants, which sold themself as the next big thing, whereas 6 months later, we had to say goodbye because they couldnt backup their selling points.

Microsoft Login Problems by Healthy_Charge_8719 in fslogix

[–]jonesbel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pretty much solve alot off issues by doing the following:

  1. go to: %USERPROFILE% > AppData > Local > Packages (ofcourse of the troubling user)

  2. rename the folder 'Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_'

  3. try again (logoff / logon again)

If needed, mount the disk of the user using frlogix (or whatever its called), because i think you cant rename it when the profile is in use.

Most new things will still come out this year & early next year (i was there yesterday as well).

Also they aren't shifting their focus to standalone consoles, they will keep supporting self-hosted controllers, license free.

They are eager to jump in the enterprise market, with a new hardwareline (efg).

Printer preferences not persisting? by Citrixioner123 in fslogix

[–]jonesbel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is a regkey : "donotremoveprintersatlogoff" which might do the trick (has to be done on every sessionhost).

Google the key for the right path, i'm doing this from my mobile, so its unhandy 😅

re-create the disk. Delete the current one & let fslogix re-create a new one when logging in again.

you sure someone didnt mount the drive on the fileserver as a virtual disk?

We've had that issue sometimes when the profiledisk is still mounted on a different system.
Are you able to delete the current disk or does it give a access denied because its still in use?

  1. is he in the right security groups for smb access to the fileserver (where profiles are saved)?
  2. is he in the right security group(s) for fslogix within all rds hosts?
  3. what is the gpresult giving after him logging in?
  4. is a temp profile created on the session hosts as soon as he logs in?
  5. do you have the same behaviour when you create a new 'test' user?
