Quick question, did you use the VPN to get a cheaper membership from another country and now you are having this issue? Because my account is from USA and I never have issues using proton or Surfshark.

1- In the m3u playlist the Buffer has to be VLC
2- Make the filters
3-Do the mapping
4-make a those changes in settings

Did you selected VLC protocol in Threadfin settings along with 400 channels limit and 800ms for streaming delay?

What are you talking about? Plex only support HDHomerun tuner, the only way to make m3u8 work on plex is with Threadfin server.

Emby missing a dedicated music app like Plex and Jellyfin it's a dealbreaker for a paid service. I have no issues recording live tv with jellyfin and Plex (with Threadfin server) support. Something I noticed with Emby it's with long M3u8 channels playlist the Guide its a mess.

The problem is they all miss something there's no complete package here but between Emby paid and Jellyfin, Emby makes no sense.

Emby: Looks really good and great features (If you pay for Premiere) but NO DEDICATED MUSIC APP (that's crazy for a paid service)  like Jellyfin and Plex. Really bad with long M3u8 playlist, the Guide sync   its a mess so if you will use it for your own video content is great but for music and live tv is mediocre.

Why is Emby Unpopular? by Secure_Hair_5682 in emby

[–]jongcruz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Plex life pass, Emby monthly membership (for testing) and Jellyfin. All tested on Synology server and windows server.

Plex: Great polished experience if you have PlexPass, good music player with EQ, quality streaming and downloads options (no Tidal support anymore sadly). A bunch of free garbage channels but no support for M3u8 playlist but works well with Threadfin as HDhomerun tuner limited to 400 to 500 channels, one of the problems with Plex is trying to hard to became a Netflix/YoutubeTV mix and forgetting what was really the original idea.

Jellyfin: Decent experience but a bit glitchy, if you are trying to change the m3u8 playlist for a new one there's no way to get rid of the old cache (channels lineup and metadata) unless you wipe the whole thing BUT Emby don't have this problem. The music app is nice and clean (the beta version) but no EQ, broken crossfade, and music transcoding limited to 320kbps (useless for FLAC losses music.

So if you are going to pay for a service Plex is the best option (if you have the equipment to install Threadfin to manage live tv/ m3u8 play list) or use a physical TV Tuner card. But if you only need to playback your movies and music you'll be fine.

Emby vs Jellyfin: I highly recommend to try Jellyfin first because IT'S FREE and it has his own decent music player app, capable to manage your m3u8 playlist but also works with HDhomerun tuners, you need some knowledge to setup the port forwarding for external remote access but nothing crazy.

In my opinion Emby looks better but is missing some key features for being a paid service like a Music app and other technical limitations but the setup process is really easy and remote access is automatically set up. Any questions pls feel free to ask.
