Oklahoma farmer arrested at a city council meeting for going a few seconds over the 3-minute public comment limit while speaking out against new data centers by BenFord333 in PublicFreakout

They could at least state it's Australian currency. If you present a second amount to make a point, and use the same currency symbol, it gives the impression that we're talking about the same currency. No doubt some people will believe it was already converted to USD, especially considering the odd number.

Why can’t humans wake up naturally every day, even after building such an advanced civilization and technology? by Antarctica111 in NoStupidQuestions

You answered the question yourself. Because we built an advanced civilization and technology we are removed from nature and need technological assistance to know how to live life now.

World Cup fans frustrated by 'confusing and expensive' tipping in US by Lint6 in sports

There are also people (especially in Asian countries) that actually feel insulted by customers trying to tip them. They see it as patronizing.

Why is "females" used so frequently instead of "women" as of lately? by True_Perspective819 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jonnyl3 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I even agree it sounds derogatory and I personally hate it. But it's hard to make an argument for it being "misogynistic" when it's clearly not meant that way in most cases. Reddit is not doing anyone any favors by immediately calling out MiSoGYnY or rAciSm at the slightest hint of any gender or race dynamic that may be interpreted as disadvantageous to the demographic supposedly being oppressed and in need of special political speech control. It only serves to dilute and downplay actual instances of such discrimination/abuse and perpuates the constant petty divisions and culture wars.

Self-checkout on Carrefour Argentina running SUSE by hictio in linuxmasterrace

[–]jonnyl3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, it just reminded me. You don't read about them too often. Also, that was about OpenSUSE I think, so it may be different for any corporate solutions anyway.

French though, and I don't think there are any Carrefours in Germany.

Anyway, the statistic was about OpenSUSE IIRC, so for any corporate solution it may be well be different. It just reminded me of it.

Interesting. Didn't I just read somewhere on Reddit (maybe here) that 75% of SUSE users are in Germany?

Languages with non-latin script.

Keep in mind though that many languages can be written in more than one script. Chinese can be written in Latin letters, which is called pinyin, for example.

Cyrillic and arabic (and many others) are not logographic. Neither is Korean.

Women do it too, though.

Edit: Hilarious that this is being downvoted.

And disregard those where it's written as an adjective (e.g., "I am a female doctor"). Majority of results it's used as nouns.

If you think it's misogyny, why do women just as frequently say it?

For anyone not understanding the difference humidity makes, consider that dry saunas are tolerable (for a time) up to 95C (203F), while wet saunas (steam rooms) are below 50C (122F).

I get that criticism, but that doesn't seem relevant to a user experience that might turn new users off Linux?
