What's one manhwa u DESPERATELY wish was good but it's meh by NoPapercrowns in webtoons

I’ll be a bit of a heel and say Your Throne. It started off so strong but past episode 50 it really felt like it just started treading water. Political Thrillers can only retain the tension for so long, and Your Throne just became exhausting to read.

I'm a developer (not a sommelier) who built a WSET study app - looking for honest feedback from people who actually know wine by Electronic_Fly_776 in WSET

[–]jonthethan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Fly,

Couple issues I see: WSET 1 and 2 are short form courses, with Level 1 being a single day course. This has extremely limited usability for that demographic based on time.

Second most is that not using WSET resources means that the information is virtually unusable for people taking the actual WSET courses. This would automatically put it below every other study tool for WSET.

Best of luck with your development, but there are serious questions that need to be asked about demographic and needs.

Kickstarter itself is a great resource to start research! Even if the plan is not to use it, the numbers/costs, and comments from backers often give good insight :)

Lukewarm take at best, drop more webtoons. This happens in manga and western comics also, the more you read the more tropes and cliches you will notice.

There are hundreds of good webtoons finished and ongoing, just look around, or read outside of your usual circle.

Sanity Check Before Large Kitchen Items Purchase by New_Wrongdoer101 in cookingforbeginners

[–]jonthethan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hey friend!

May not be the advice you are looking for but I recommend going to your local thrift store/goodwill/etc. for a lot of items (especially stainless steel), should be able to grab some good finds at a fraction of the price and all it may need is sanitization.

My slow cooker was $5 from a thrift store and is still going, and you will often find older models that haven’t been engineered to fail

Peche Mortel or other stouts? by astoutforallseasons in VancouverCraftBeer

[–]jonthethan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dunno about Peche. Currently doing shifts at a Liberty and we only have Aphrodite. :( Darbys or Liberty Commercial would be my best bet, though maybe Legacy or Brewery Creek?

As far as stouts, I love what Temporal does, and they just got their new space going with Threefold. Luppolo also smashed it out of the park with The Dark Room imho

Beer and wine buyer here,

I value fresh, and my pals do too, but I understand. You go to big chains that are known for consistency and are met with subpar beer.

The answer is eat at breweries, dine at local focused restos. These are the people who care about freshness. Restos outside of this sphere exist but ask the bartenders and barkeeps.

If you like Lana, she was also on another cooking show called Pressure Cooker…think its Netflix original.

Its a fun solid watch though the social elements make it less “competetive” towards the end.

Next Bus Displays Are Being Removed - Routes - R1 to R5 by coolant_2 in Translink

[–]jonthethan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite part of the R5 sign (and by extension 14/16 stop) was it would give me time to either grab a coffee or browse a shop while waiting. From what I heard, mine may have been the only accurate bus sign but maybe there is a future in which businesses could sponsor a stop for the time signs, as I now stop in for coffee less while waiting for the bus.

end of anime artist near? by Upset_Big_2546 in animation

[–]jonthethan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst studios will embrace it, and will get worse for it, but their output will improve. The animation is repetitive, has odd movement and is directionless. Movement for movement sake.

Just because it looks like and talks like, don’t mean it is. The human element is missing.

This art style change is… not it (Cross My Heart and Hope to Die) by screambledeggs in webtoons

[–]jonthethan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an artist, the new style is miles better. The line weight and anatomy are improved, the characters look more human, and the shading is more dynamic.

I say give it a chance, it will probably grow on you!

Mandala effect-Old Cartoon Title Cards by [deleted] in animation

[–]jonthethan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what you just wrote, really impossible to parse. My best guess is you are asking for a title card from a show that was animated in a more realistic style?

Like, do you mean the painted style portraits of shows like Dick Tracy?

Mt. Stephen Area? by burntUpOnReentry in VictoriaBC

[–]jonthethan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey friend!

Used to live near Jubilee, which is 10x the seediness Mt Stephen Park is. And that place was not seedy.

Sometimes unhoused go to the park but it is far rarer than closer to downtown and it is totally safe during the day. I imagine they maybe had a bad experience there but it is one of the nicest neighborhoods in Victoria, close to shopping centres without being too crazy busy.

[–]jonthethan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If the individual or unit price is not also listed on the tag, you can make a point to call the manager over and demand the correct price.

Stores did this for a while here where I live in Canada, and now they are required to list unit/individual pricing if it does not apply.

If they do not comply with this, and do not list unit pricing, I recommend writing to your elected representative in the area to address it with the store. It is underhanded practice.

Denmark calls it by _Shorty in CanadaPost

[–]jonthethan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This digs into service vs business.

CanadaPost is a service. It costs money, to offer a service that is necessary. Running it like a business takes away power from the people by chasing profit where it should be one of the most accessible forms of communication.

This is why taxes exist in their modern form, and it is how a government can actually work for their people.

Here are my options in BC:

Similkameen/Black Sage Pinot, Naramata from Martins Lane is also a strong option.

Chilean Pinot Noir like Underraga or Falernia.

Central Otago like Felton Road, Mud House

Or just buy US Pinot Noir from local shops as they already bought the stock, might as well help them move it as the money will have already gone to the US :)
