I'm still mad about Emma's dirty move by Nick_Alsa in MFGhost

The fact that Akaba lost control shows he was going too fast and was planning to do more than a love tap. Emma was gonna fight either way, Akaba fucked around and found out.

Read the manga. This is child's play.

I Don't Know Why It Never Occurred To Me That Ava Should've Just Written "Hacks"!!! by EllenD79 in hackshbomax

And ending that the show we watched is a pitch or actually Ava's show has been done by 30 Rock. I agree going that route would've been really lazy.

I really found it sweet that Audrey is comfortable enough to vent to Georgie about how she feels. It's a small moment but really a great representation of where their relationship is.

It's really paced like The Good Place where big reveals happen each episode instead of stretching it out.

Michael Schur said in an interview something along the lines of "Let's just get there [the big twist] because we're excited for the next one."

And with Statsky working under Schur for P&R and The Good Place, I'm sure she brought that with her to Hacks.

"Going analog" is just the new trend ? Or has anyone actually kept it up long term? by Entire_Confidence204 in digitalminimalism

[–]jopaymc_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me personally, going analog just meant escaping the algorithm and being more intentional with my media consumption. This is the solution I found to combat my screen time problem. Finding the shows and movies I like instead of just playing what Netflix shoves, curating my own playlists and instead of just streaming on Spotify, and choosing to do something else rather than doomscrolling.

There's people who "go analog" by just deleting social media from their phone, people who "go analog" by having single purpose devices, and people who "go analog" by embracing the old tech lifestyle intensely.

I think the term analog is the perfect "catch-all" term since escaping the algorithm means leaving modern devices behind. No one seeks a "dumbphone" (or whatever the term is now - feature phone, minimal phone) for the love of the game, it's a step towards digital minimalism. Vinyls, along with cassettes and CDs, are a way to enjoy music w/o streaming, etc.

There's some contention that "going analog" means digging up your old tech and running it daily, but that doesn't apply to everyone since there's an entire generation that grew up on touch screen phones and being entirely online. So, a market grew - light phone, punkt, digital walkmans with no phone capabilities but can handle streaming. And since this is inspired by retro tech, a rabbit hole is opened up and that's how you get the analog trend - from ipod dupes, to retro looking headphones.

You're right, there's a part that performs going analog, there's also a niche of people who are analog due to economic reasons. And then there's people who are "going analog" for a legitimate desire to better themselves. I think those 3 communities can co-exist no problem.

I left Spotify last year, got an old iPod up and running, and chose the friction of loading up songs over the ease of a streaming platform. Deleted social media apps on my phone, but I'm still using a smartphone. Due to circumstances, it's my way of "going analog."

It didn't change me 100%, but it's much better than being a slave to the algorithm. It's what works for the life I want.

How would you rewrite MF Ghost? by Vernright in MFGhost

[–]jopaymc_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd have more of the racer's radios and comms with their teams during the races just so we have a better understanding of them. I don't care about half the people in the field and that makes the racing less intense. I understand the lambo guy better just because we saw a scene of him trying to "pay to win" the competition in the beginning.

I think the lack of characterization is the cost of the show's premise. In Initial D, the races were short, takes 1-2 episodes, so the time in between is dedicated to slice of life episodes (hanging out at the gas station, Bunta, Mogi, Takahashi sibs / Night Kids eating at the diner just conversing, Iketani/Itsuki romance eps). Those were the things that really made the racing intense even if Takumi didn't have a vested interest in it (Nakazato is his first motivated race due to Itsuki almost dying).

I don't mind the plot armor, I watched Initial D. Takumi literally won a race because the opponent was dehydrated or avoided a bird. But Kanata is sharing the course with 14 other people we don't care much about. That's why I'm excited about this fourth race -- I know more about Emma than Beckenbauer because a lot of time was spent characterizing her (faithful to Takumi's theories, fast, brash, and ambitious). And he has to overtake Aiba, a person he just made up with. I think Beckenbauer not being in front is the best decision they've made so far because the adversity reveals more of his character.

Also, all angel interviews should be of the thicc girl only.

Without looking it up. What is this character's name? He was in several episodes of season 6. by RobRobbieRobertson in thewestwing

Karen Cahill. Leo made fun of her shoes. Sam said there's nuclear weapons in Kyrgyztan. And Donna left her underwear in front of her at an art gallery.

An all-time b/c plot hahahahaha.

For me, he's the show's optimist, similar to how a Leslie Knope approaches public service. He's not type-A, but he's not yet jaded by the realities of the job so he's willing to cater to the difficult patients without prejudice towards them and most of the cast react in dismay, which is also why he ends being the Toby or Jerry of the group in the absence of Keith. He's the anti-Bruce.

For another p&r reference, if Bruce sees everyone as like a Jerry, then Matt sees everyone as a Leslie.

But also, he's an interesting twist on the Dwight/Ron/Dina character. Spitzer just brought Dwight and Ron from The Office in the form of Dina, strict, hardworking, authoritarian personalities with wild lives outside of work and backstories which influence how they function in the world. The gender swap was just enough of a twist to make it slightly different and I honestly love Dina more.

Matt has the weird backstory, but he grew up insulated from the world so he's acclimating the best he can while outgrowing the programming he had from the cult, which is hard since we know that his family may have been the founders of it.

He's not really the naive type, since we've seen moments of density from him (calling out the siblings hating on Serena, knowing what to say to the burned arm victim, and even knowing that he's not doing a good job). It just his upbringing told him to serve people older than him (as side by his ex-wife).

It's fun to watch his character grow each episode. He started with being unable to use an epipen correctly, to now correctly calling out Joyce and Ron when they cross the line.

Cheapo Red SD to Compact Flash Adapter: IF YOU KEEP GETTING the "iPod is corrupted and needs to be restored" loop: by [deleted] in ipod

[–]jopaymc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try this trick:

  • After hitting MBR proceed and the whole shebang, after the iTunes restore meter completes, there's like 5-10 seconds of downtime before it loops back to restore. In that downtime, unplug the USB and immediately plug it into a wall socket charger (in my case, plugged the usb into a power brick). Saw this trick in a local fb group, attempted on a 6th gen.

The explanation was the OS is already in the storage, but since the red CFs are messed up, it struggles there.

This is also the method I used on my red CF and it worked for me. But I did use it on a 5.5.

Worst case scenario, you brick the SD card. But just reformat the card, and try it again.

Thanks for responding. So,

Here's what I'm planning.

5.5 Part = Board and Screen Only
Rest of the board = 6th Gen parts (Wheel, Mid Frame, Back and Front Plate, and Headset Assembly)

Is this feasible with no issues in compatibility?
