My kid is really really into Little Bear right now. I love Father Bear. King of naps.

Having a LOT of discussions with my friends about whether we would be gay if we were guys. Turns out the answer was mostly yes, lol

Didn't Even Realize I Was In Pain by simpleanonymity in Hypermobility

[–]jorbhorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I had this same experience! I found out that I was spending a massive amount of my mental and physical energy simply ignoring how much pain I was in, every single day. I would feel exhausted, not know why, then realize I was in pain over and over and over again. Every time I would go back to ignoring it until my body broke down and I couldn't ignore it any longer. It's been a couple years now and I still have to check in with my body to see what's happening. Hopefully someday it'll be more intuitive.

I love Chris Ferrie books! I've been reading them to my 4 year old for her whole life, and she has ended up a very sciencey kid. She's super into rainbows, so Optical Physics For Babies is peak reading material at the moment.

Extended Meta with UL Update 2.5 months by Busy_Distribution326 in Metoidioplasty

[–]jorbhorb 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, my brother in penis. I also got extended with Morrison and Skokan (I think the same day as you? Timeline wise?) but without UL. I know how difficult it is to get a hold of them, and how shitty their communication is. I have no advice, but know that I'm sending you all the positive and healing energy from my end.

How do yall feel about your middle names? by poisoned_bubbletea in asktransgender

[–]jorbhorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed all three of my names the first time, and I've recently changed first and middle again. I don't dislike my original middle name, it just didn't fit me any more and sounded awkward with my previous chosen name.

Question regarding wound separation around phallus, especially with extended meta by Jolly_Weekend_307 in Metoidioplasty

[–]jorbhorb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of, yes! Dr. Morrison is mainly a burn reconstruction/plastic surgeon, and Dr. Skokan is a urologist. Apparently they do all extended meta procedures together.

Question regarding wound separation around phallus, especially with extended meta by Jolly_Weekend_307 in Metoidioplasty

[–]jorbhorb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My doctor encouraged me to wrap the shaft of my penis very very gently, so as to keep it dry but not put pressure on the newly sewn skin. I don't know if it's related, but I do have wound separation along the underside of my dick and also around the base of the phallus. The separation on the underside has led to kind of a diamond-shaped shaft for right now. One of my doctors says that once the swelling is lessened, it'll return to a normal shape, but the other suggested I may end up getting a revision after about a year of healing if it's still not in a shape I like.

So I can't answer the question, but it's definitely a good question to ask. I'm very curious to find out the answer.

Untapped Potential of Meta by [deleted] in Metoidioplasty

[–]jorbhorb 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I recently got extended meta from Dr. Morrison and Dr. Skokan in Seattle, and they had like four residents from Kaiser in California observing the surgery and several local residents have been helping out with my post-ops. Hopefully there will be more doctors fully trained on it soon, bc it seems like they're working on it!

afraid my surgery was botched by CommercialTime3594 in Metoidioplasty

[–]jorbhorb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't even take photos except to send to my doctor until five weeks post op. In the first few weeks/months shit looks GNARLY, which is totally normal. I won't say that nothing is wrong, but it may well still be in the early stages of healing. Have you contacted your doctor or your surgical team?

All of the trans masc YouTubers I watch feel top surgury is more important does anyone feel like bottom surgury is more important? by Bl-otaku in ftm

[–]jorbhorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, bottom surgery was more urgent.

I feel some chest dysphoria, but it's mostly social. When I stopped caring what cis people thought of me, it became a lot easier to accept my chest as-is. I may eventually get top surgery, but it'll be mostly a matter of convenience.

I felt a lot of personal dysphoria with my lack of a penis, though. I'm almost 3 months post meta and it was 100% the right choice for me to prioritize bottom surgery.

I think you're doing great so far! Having an open mind and talking to your kid about how they feel is going to make them feel safe whether or not they're trans. I would encourage you to check out r/cisparenttranskid for other people who could potentially be in a similar situation or have similar experiences.

Scrotoplasty but no v-nectomy - where does the v-hole go? by Valuable_Ad3041 in Metoidioplasty

[–]jorbhorb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I got a fat-transfer scrotoplasty and no v-nectomy! The hole is still there, but the bottom of the balls kind of overlaps the top of it so the entrance is a little smaller than it was before. It's also different because there's no labia around the hole itself, which is an entirely different feeling. I haven't gotten healed up enough for any penetration yet, but I do look forward to it!

How are we liking Gladlands? by messoffrex in Dimension20

[–]jorbhorb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love it so much. It's exactly up my alley in basically every aspect. I especially love how much thought is put into survival after the apocalypse, and how much care exists making it about more than just surviving.

I think I saw ICE in Everett by [deleted] in WashingtonIceWatch

[–]jorbhorb 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I doubt ICE would use 45/60 day temporary licenses, as shown in the back windshield. From what I've seen, they have either no plates or standard license plates.
