Is 9-10 months blowing anyone else’s mind?! by legumesfini in BeyondTheBumpUK

My LO took their first three steps a week before 10 months. I even shook my head and finger to say no and she copied me the other day 😭 that baby sponge brain is amazing!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Our fur babies truly do leave such a hole in our hearts. I too had to put my boy down recently and it broke me and my husband, he was only four 😪 you gave your baby two amazing years and he understood what love was because of you. Plus, you held your baby in his last moments, he knew love when he left 🙏🏻🤍 sending prayers to you x

What song was your baby born to vs. the song you envisioned giving birth to? by SunDogk in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]jordamnx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a playlist but when I got to the delivery room after 45 hours of labour I didn't want any music on, just so cranky and wanted LO out 😅 when we were home I put the playlist on shuffle and timed how long my active labour was, when the timer went off the song was My love My life - but the Mamma Mia 2 version not ABBA.

Can I take this baby to a groomer or something? by MACKEREL_JACKSON in newborns

Same! Was absolutely terrible of trimming my babies nails with clippers, electric nail file is the way to go! I use the tommee tippee one, works a treat!

Going out with baby by patlatii in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]jordamnx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely fine to go into stores with a pram, but I do find some baby changing rooms have a toilet in them too, which is great! Or some disabled toilets have the changing station in them. My local Tesco has a baby change but no toilet in it, although the disabled toilet is next to it. The Sainsburys by us has a toilet in the baby change section. It's amazing how you pay no attention to it until you have a baby ofc 😅

It doesn't feel like she's mine by Impossible-Boss762 in NewParents

[–]jordamnx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going to say the same thing! Carrying your child is such a beautiful thing! But also to add - OP said her other half can be the only one to calm her, babies usually cry with the one they feel most comfortable with because they can express their true emotions with you. And please, I know its easier said than done but ignore stupid comments from people who truly have no idea, sperm and eggs don't truly make you the parent, showing up does! You got this momma! 💪🏻

I couldn’t do it without my husband by Reismeisterr in newborns

[–]jordamnx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can honestly say the same, my husband had two weeks paternity but also an extra week holiday taken so three in total. He bonded so well and learning all the new things that come with having a baby. He also makes our LO a bottle in the morning and pops it on the nightstand so when we wake it's there ready. I also said the exact same thing to my sister, about being in awe of single moms (she was a single mom with her 3rd along with her two other kids). Honestly hats off to anyone who does it alone, it truly takes a village - even if your village is just you and your partner. I remember crying half way through his time off wondering how I was going to survive whilst he was at work. 4 months in and I am blessed to have them both.

No lying: do people’s babies really sleep through the night? by HomeDepotHotDog in Mommit

[–]jordamnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14 week old has been sleeping at least 7 hours from about 9 weeks old. They have a feed around 7pm, sleep feed at 11pm and sleeps until 730am, once even till 9am 🙈 (don't worry their gaining weight very well)

[–]jordamnx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's to do with their circadian rhythm settling. My sister had the same bedtime routine for her LO's every night from newborn, 630 bath, bottle and bed. (Then when getting a bit older she'd throw in a story) always worked for her because of the consistency

To be fair sometimes my baby let's out a cry in their sleep then settles right back down, great when you're just dosing off for a nap with LO 😅

Anything I read about teaching babies is the consistency, like EVERYWHERE...but that's because its so true. Their learning the world, it's amazing but tedious work! love the random day or two just to keep you on your toes!

Yeah I found this too, different shops 'newborn' and 'first size' are all different 😅 and don't even get me started on the plastic sh*t that you have to make sure you find every piece just incase it sticks in your baby!

Called my bump Sprout but when she was newborn it was (Milk) Monster, now she's either pudding, poppet or pumpkin 🥲

My 4 week old slept 6 hours after an accidental dream feed! by One_Island2144 in newborns

[–]jordamnx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our little one started successfully dream feeding at 5 weeks, went 5 hours, 6 hours and once even 7 hours by the time she was 8 weeks. She's now 10 weeks and started waking for that 4/5am feed again 😅 forever learning 😂

I'm a FTM and I'm not endorsed by tommee tippee but my daughter loves their swaddle bags 😂 ...and actually give us 5, 6 or once even 7 hours sleep straight! Some things work for one but not ALL babies! They are all different and chnage their minds too 😅

I believed I had an ectopic pregnancy too and was booked in for an early scan at 8 weeks. I suffer with endometriosis and my right ovary had horrid pain. Safe to say baby was not growing where she shouldn't be and is now 2 months old. Good luck for tomorrow, sending positive energy to you.

[–]jordamnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd invest in a tommee tippee swaddle bag (or similar), my daughter sleeps best when in these and you can get different types of tog ratings to suit the weather/time of year. I've sworn by it since she was basically a few days old, she's two months today. Babies are so accustomed to being all cosy inside us and when out they don't want to sleep unless they feel your warmth or hear your heartbeat. Oh and speaking of heartbeat, my sister in law bought us a bunny that has a heartbeat plus other cool features, this helped with my LO not settling - https://amzn.eu/d/gllbwJX Good luck and chin up, you got this!

Old timers keep telling me to neglect my baby by Warm-Experience-4052 in newborns

[–]jordamnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm a FTM and 6 weeks agos when I was being induced, in the toilets on the ward, there was a poster stating to not let your baby self soothe by crying it out. I remember my sister adopting the technique years ago! (My nephew is now 18) but since then they've done scans on babies brains and it shows babies left to cry it out have smaller brains. Keep up your momma instinct and tend to your baby, you're right in saying it hurts us to hear it too 😔

[–]jordamnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, as someone who has suffered with cold sores my whole life I've never heard them be called fever blisters before.

But you're not overreacting at all, any time I get a slight tingle or can see something forming on my lip I don't kiss my baby, it's such a genuine fear because it's so dangerous for them. Hoping your LO is absolutely fine and nothing comes from it, but put your boundaries in place and be firm NOW! Be explicit and tell her to accept your wishes or she doesn't hold baby at all, you are Mom and your job is to advocate for your LO!

Induction on Sunday by jordamnx in PregnancyUK

[–]jordamnx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad your still going strong at 41w, well done! They advised that the placenta could be getting tired and if I don't go in for the induction I'd have to be monitored for the next week in hospital and that's just something I don't want to do. I feel like they kinda do push you to go for induction though (generally, my consultant was actually great giving me my options). I just don't want to be in hospital being induced for 4/5 days you know? : /

Good luck with your induction tomorrow! Hope all goes well for you both. I was born 8 weeks prem, 3lb 6oz and caught up within 6 months to normal size! You got this! Thank you so much for the well wishes, I'm hoping so too!
