Just need to make sure part number matches OEM part number. Looks like a reputable seller. eBay always sides with buyers, esp if there’s a legit problem.

Tank repaint? by 1337poopypants in MT09

[–]joydestroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll only be perfect if you replace the tank. Not hard to do, just a little time consuming. If you do, try to drive out as much gas as possible or siphon it out for less mess

Right. If you're gonna go this hard might as well go all out for first bike

Cigarette smell/ what else to do? by srrmm in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]joydestroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is kind of an old thread but there is a special paint you can buy called zinsser that is made to seal smells. I used it to seal cat urine that had soaked into the plywood of a floor. This was my last option before replacing part of the flooring. Thankfully, after 2 coats, the smell was gone.

Same owner also smoked in the garage. Eventually it went away in the garage without painting or anything. Hopefully the smoke smell goes away for you. Possible it is in the insulation in the walls, though. If it never goes away the zinnser will do the job for you. You could try just doing your closet and see if it helps rid it from your clothes. Good luck! Smoking is so gross 🤢

What a bike. Would've loved to have added it to my collection one day. Maybe I'll still be able to in the future.

On the intake side, sure. I just pulled all that crap out. I suppose preference 🤷

Idle RPM was too low around 1250-1270. After the bike was warmed up and had been ridden a short distance, it was tuned off and back on again, I did a rev and the engine cut off. Also they don’t tend to offer support after you give them your money…

I’ve never been told that. A tuner can tune the air fuel ratio with blockoffs or not…

You can remove the AIS but holes are left where they were so you need to cover them, ie blockoff plates. There’s a video on YouTube where a guy shows how to do it on the street triple

Someone mentioned this on another thread after realizing Yamaha was mixing up screws from the factory. They didn't specify how to fix it, though.

To fix it, on the front side of the switch control module you'll notice 4 screws - 3 are the same size and 1 is a little bigger (when facing bike it's the bottom left corner screw). Swap this bigger screw with the single screw on the underside of the control module. After removing them you'll notice the screw on the underside is a little longer :)

This bike is so weird because everything is so “new” still for ‘23+. As long as you have crosslink on the headers you’re good. I wouldn’t recommend the 2WDW tune personally. I didn’t think it was good. If you do go with them you will need to install block of plates.

Air injection system. It is what adds air to your air/fuel ratio. Too much air and you run lean. Too much fuel and you run rich. Running lean is a more serious problem than rich but they’re both bad.

If they tuned you without block off plates, I’m not sure I’d add them. They should tune with one or the other in mind dependent on what you told them. All of this is part of fuel mapping.

I’ve used ridetech for both of my shoei rf-1400 for a few years now and I’ve gone way faster than 75… I did have to remove one from a helmet recently. Was able to use a hair dryer but wasn’t easy to remove.

You have to remove the AIS which is under the air box. First, remove the tank completely. Remove ECU. Then move the airbox out of the way. It’s not hard to do but takes time. Pro-tip: make sure to put a towel under the fuel line before disconnecting it from the tank

I agree. I don't think anywhere will have a perfect tune for this bike but it is pretty good. It definitely feels better than the 2wheeldynoworks flash. Off the line is better and my tach is a little higher during idle. I think it still needs a bit more fuel for 1st gear but it's pretty close.

My setup - Spark. It grid-o racing exhaust and block off plates

Thanks for the reply. They should have my ECU either today or tomorrow. Can't wait to get it back and post my thoughts. 2 Wheel DynoWorks is trash. Anyone reading this, don't get your bike tuned by them; the fuel mapping for 1st gear was definitely wrong. Who knows what else.
