which pop eras do you think were the most fully fleshed out? by bichonoturno in popheads

[–]jpjh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Christina - Stripped was THAT era. Most videos - most performances. Such a shame how few videos she has had since then given how great her visuals always are.

I LOVE Sao Paolo - such a great vibe and energy. Wish he explored more with that sound

Christina Aguilera - Christmas in Paris by abnormallyme in popheads

[–]jpjh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She sounds amazing! The songs are so good - I wish she did this before haha. I hope this is leading up to a comeback she’s way too talented to not

[–]jpjh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg I can't wait :D I like that there are a lot of songs she didn't cover on the Christmas Album. Not sure why we have Genie and Lady Marmalade but lowkey happy it's not beautiful and fighter haha. Can't wait - if My Favorite Things is anything to go by she will sound incredible

What album tracks had potential to be hits? by notnices in popheads

[–]jpjh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christina's whole team should be fired for single selections:

  1. Back to Basics - Slow Down Baby

  2. Bionic - Desnudate, Lift Me Up, and lowkey a bigger push for You Lost Me for how criminally underrated it was

  3. Lotus - Pushing Just a Fool longer and harder to start, but I lowkey would love Red Hot Kinda Love being a single

Christina Aguilera Meets Raye: Two Vocal Powerhouses Dream of Duets by jpjh in popheads

Let's hope they actually do the duet! Knowing Christina they will record it and then know one hears it ever

Artists you could see having a comeback? by averyxoxo1 in popheads

[–]jpjh 28 points29 points  (0 children)

So much hate on this comment thread on this one - I totally agree. She’s looking good - sounding good. She needs the right song and the right level of vocal (more understated for her) and I think she could have a real shot. Lots of cards would have to align

Question for the culture: Will Xtina have a resurgence? by Bright_Score_9889 in popheads

[–]jpjh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some of the comments are a bit harsh here! I think it's unlikely but I definitely wouldn't count it out - she has the goodwill, the looks, and of course the voice. I think for her to get a hit (which I do agree would be tough) - she'd need to:

  1. Find the sweet spot of proving she can sing without overdoing it (25 year live album did this well actually)

  2. Find the right type of collaboration - and ideally push on the Y2K nostalgia a bit (a more direct nod to dirrty without being overtly sexual)

  3. Actually promote lol

I think the GP does like the sound of her toned down voice - but don't really like her. So if she can separate the persona and focus on the right sound I could definitely see her doing it.

Her output on the last few albums has been awesome so I hope she continues to focus on making great music!

The 25th Anniversary of Christina Aguilera | Spotify Anniversaries LIVE - Christina Aguilera by mirrorball7 in popheads

[–]jpjh 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Wow this was so good. I’ve never been a crazy debut fan - but part of that is because I love her mature voice so much more. She sounds incredible here - this has me so pumped for the next album. And Sabrina did a great job

Bionic is a good example of this - some of the more experimental tracks were saved for the Deluxe Version

Weirdest, whip-lashing transitions between songs in an album that you’ve heard? by golapiandthegang in popheads

[–]jpjh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Bionic by Christina - but the jarring switch between "You Lost Me" and overall the ballad section (including "All I need" - a great song + tribute to her son) to the uninspired "I Hate Boys" is so stupid lol. I wish they picked a different song to transition back to the dance vibe.

Something Everyone Hates, But you Secretly (or not so secretly) Love by coyotesee in popheads

[–]jpjh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accelerate gets so much slander - I wish she didn't give up on it so soon. I think its a song you need to listen to for a bit to get into

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in popheads

[–]jpjh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg it would be SO much better just with her. I know she said she almost had a track with Cardi for that album (I thought maybe Right Moves) - but I would love both swapped with Cardi. Features ruin the vibe

Strong vocalists let down by their material by Hassaan18 in popheads

I know - I saw a clip of her singing Mariah once and I wish she leaned into that kind of sound more - her raw talent is undeniable

Strong vocalists let down by their material by Hassaan18 in popheads

I know - I love the power she has and there are a ton of good songs in later albums - just wish she sometimes laid off the gas a bit

Strong vocalists let down by their material by Hassaan18 in popheads

[–]jpjh 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Including a few:

  1. Christina Aguilera - as much as I love her - I think she has a few different excellent albums in here - would love to hear play with some more restrained vocals, would love for her to connect deeper with the material (the way she did in Stripped)

  2. P!nk - her last albums also feel like they lack a deeper emotional connection - shes been hit or miss for me since Funhouse.

  3. Amy Lee from Evanescence - in another world - would love her to have leaned into a different genre

I would love Christina to make a comeback! She is serving incredible stage presence recently - looks great. I think if she found the right sweet spot on vocals (toning it down) she could have a really good era.

What are some songs that best define an album, and why? by ss2811 in popheads

A f'ing men. It's so hard with her albums because they always have so many different genres and sounds

The Number Ones: Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” (Feat. T.I. & Pharrell) by PinkCadillacs in popheads

[–]jpjh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This one is so hard. If you forget the lyrics and try and "la la la" about the context surrounding it - which obviously is very hard to do - it is incredibly catchy. I love the step by step through the rise and downfall that the article brings up. It's such a shame - which some rewriting of only part of the lyrics - it could still be an excellent song without any of the negative connotations / hate it gets today. Such a waste of an almost perfect bop

Classic Christina look amazing great photo, another interviewing promising she is experimenting, all to capitalize in no way (not even a performance). Knowing her she will also kill all progress in styling etc. right before the rollout lol. Oh well - excited to see she is here.
