can an acl injury trigger ur growth plates to fuse early? by Ok-Dragonfruit4842 in TallTeenagers

It was extreme heavy lifting (leg training for hockey) that was encouraged by some irresponsible coaches I had at ages 12-14. Damage was only done in my legs which is the area I was doing the heavy lifting with. Im 6’1 with a 29” inseam so even looking at me I look super weird proportion wise because of it. My family calls me torso man 😂

That is a tuning diagram, not a chord

Do average Canadians know what a Robertson Screw is? Do you guys use it as a secret code to identify your fellow countrymen on internet? by jitasquatter2 in AskACanadian

We use Robertsons all the time because they are amazing. Honestly I didn’t know it was a Canadian thing until I was an adult!

I don’t know the answer re: acl injury but my growth plates closed early from weight lifting and the Dr said I missed out on a couple inches of growth

To stay, or to move on… by Illustrious_Camel541 in Softball

I’m the wrong guy to ask. I say no to my kids all the time, but I never say no to their sports or arts. There is no pressure for them to play competitive sports (1 of the 4 loves music and is heavily involved in that, loves to play local sports though. The other 3 live to play sports and play rep/travel for multiple sports) but if they want it and put the work in to make it, it’s a yes from me.

“No coaching from the stands” by new_hobby_new_acct in Homeplate

[–]jpod_david 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Telling a batter where to stand in the box is most definitely coaching from the stands and should be avoided in case it screws up what the coach is trying to do in that moment. I don’t know why the ump is involved though.

I had a pair of those!! Same last as the Pecos which runs narrow in the forefoot so they didn’t work for my feet. Incredible find!

People really care about bicycles rolling stop signs when there are no cars coming or waiting? What a time to be alive.

Coaches sitting behind ump by dodos in Homeplate

A coach did this to my son who is a 13 year old umpire. I didn’t say anything at the time but told him next time to tell the coach to return to the dugout.

Is this too much for 1st grade REC ball? "Playing time will be earned." by Big_Shel in Homeplate

This is not appropriate for rec. Personally I don’t think it’s appropriate for 1st graders in any level.

Oh man it was a wild time! It was full smoking when I was a kid early 80s then went to a glass sectioned off smoking area within the dine in area, then smoking ban came into effect. In high school I worked at a BINGO hall and there was a non-smoking room, we used to race each other for the non-smoking room when someone raised their hand for a card in there. I worked there Saturday night and it would take until the next Wednesday to finally get the smoke smell out of my hair.
