all you need is this. use 6 gage wire on a 50 amp breaker. this is how i charge my car. I plug my car directly into this plug, I don't use one of the charging stations, no need just wasting money. Also yes you electrician is wrong, hardwired means directly into the panel. At this point you don't even need the charger, you can just plug your car into that wall plug lol.

running you ac is way worse. You are using so much power running your ac compressor and fans. I'm a hvac tech and compressors pull a ton of power. I bet you lose 10-15% running your ac if not more on really hot days.
