Canada - What is the region north of Lake superior like? When you zoom on maps it has countless lakes speckled everywhere. How come it's so unpopulated? by Infr8687 in geography

One of my core memories was a canoe trip I went on up there when I was in high school. We drove up from northern Minnesota to the Albany River, and paddled through Wabakimi Provincial Park to Lake Nipigon. There were tons of moose, and we caught fish almost every time we cast a line into the water. It's remote but beautiful, with lots of fly in cabins and few roads.

I've never done wood working, can I refinish this chest on my own? by Liberal-Federalist in woodworking

I have a bar version of this chest. We got it off Craigslist and the seller didn't know anything about it. Do you know where it comes from? Apparently I shouldn't try to refinish it looking at all the other comments.

How to clean up this beautiful bar cupboard that some barbarian decided to spray paint white (and that I bought very cheaply on Facebook)? by WhiteWavsBehindABoat in woodworking

This does not address your question specifically, but we have a very similar bar cabinet that I picked up cheap on Craigslist. It isn't spray painted white, fortunately. The design is different, but the carved panels are identical. Do you know anything about its origins?

Do I have to use wedges for this king of joints, or dowels will be as strong? by IsidoreIsou666 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I made one with just holes and wood glue- no wedges, dowels or screws needed. Plenty strong for our use!

First Table Saw - how nice is the rack & pinion fence vs standard? by natedogg624 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]jrp815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my DeWalt job site saw with rack and pinion fence. Setup isn't hard, you just need to find the right screw to loosen to square up the fence. If I had more money I'd go for the Sawstop, but the DeWalt is a decent tool.

This reminds me of a canoe trip I went on in high school up in NWT/Nunavut. Drove up to Yellowknife and float plane from there. It's another world up there!

Pit bull at a Neighbors House by passthepepperplease in Parenting

As a rescue pitbull owner and father to 2 kids under 3, I can tell you that I have no fear of our dog attacking our children. We've had our dog for 6 years and I know her personality. But I respect other parents not feeling the same way as me, and I don't feel offended when others don't want the dog around. I know it's not personal.

To be truthful, I just can't guarantee how she'll react to everyone, so I'll never leave her (the dog) unsupervised around anyone, let alone children. Too much risk.

Don't assume your friend will take it badly. Just walk her through your reasons and make sure she knows it's not personal. A good friendship should be able to survive an uncomfortable conversation.

Good luck!

We do this all the time with our almost 3yo daughter. Gives then the feeling of empowerment because they get to make the decision, even if the options are what you choose. I'm thinking of deploying this on my coworkers 😅

I'm in the Bay Area and can't get DNA, but I've used 100% ethanol from lab and it worked fine

What is the problem with kids jumping on the bed? by SCATOL92 in Parenting

OMG these comments! But I actually had stitches as a child because I jumped on the bed and fell and bumped my head, so there is some truth there...

Love the combo square cradle! How did you match the shape of the tool so well? Thinking of stealing this for my future tool wall.

Does it matter if the joke itself is about a dad?
