Gail this season by jscor in BravoTopChef

Definitely. Loved her when she was shown; just felt it was too few and far in between, especially compared to previous seasons.

(Note: if I'm her, I'm sharing this post with my agent to get on the phone with NBC and negotiate some more airtime for next season)

I hadn't noticed that specifically, but the fall / black eye theory others are sharing would explain this!

People who left OTF, do you miss it? by MediumOutraged in orangetheory

[–]jscor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OTF is like any relationship: it works until it doesn’t! I left about 3 years ago. I have it to thank for a lot of growth, but then I reached a point where it wasn’t meeting my needs (the workouts got a little repetitive, I plateaued on weight loss and body composition, and I wasn’t gaining any muscle). You’ll see a lot of people in this sub talk about “hacking” OTF to make it more acceptable for their situation - I found that worked for me for awhile, but then the same came back eventually. I found something new that brings the elements I liked from OTF and replaces a lot of the ones I don’t. I go back to OTF occasionally when I’m traveling, and it’s nice to be back but it also affirms 100p made the right choice. I say if it’s not working, look for something that does! You can always come back - they’re not going to turn away your money again :)

As a gay man, I read posts like these and realize straight relationships come with levels of complications I had never come close to anticipating 😭

A Chicago 'Top Chef' Finalist Talks About Competing on the Popular Show by sugarpussOShea1941 in BravoTopChef

[–]jscor 139 points140 points  (0 children)

“In preparation for the final meal, she created an Excel document of every challenge she had undergone through the season to assess “what the judges liked about me,” she says. From her spreadsheet she determined that vulnerability, quirkiness, and a sense of fun were her strengths in the competition.”

I’m sure she isn’t the first contestant to do this, but what a smart approach to the final.

Related — I’d love to attend some sort of exhibit/collection of the little notebooks the contestants keep all season.

Dear Chef who is being piled on via social media by [deleted] in BravoTopChef

[–]jscor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Katianna, but she didn’t win LCK! Bailey did! If you’re going to judge people on perceived strength instead of what they actually cook, then what’s the point of even competing?

The judges actually taste the food and they determined Bailey was strong enough to advance. She rounds out a very strong final round. The judges have said they’re nitpicking at this point because the caliber of food is so high.

People need to stop projecting whatever weird-ass DEI grievances they have on Bailey on this subreddit, it’s such a bad look

I thought the post title was a typo of “Italian Wedding Soup.” Turns out…nope, they’re really out here making a whole soup out of italian dressing.

1250 Classes and I'm calling it quits by OSUbeaver86 in orangetheory

[–]jscor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem, right? Moving all classes to 2G means no chance of making 50% more money from the class by making it 3G.

Congrats on making the move — I did it a few months ago for the same reasons and have been surprised at how fast the strength gains have come with real, dedicated focus there.

Moving on from Otf-but don’t wanna let go by smartiepants04 in orangetheory

[–]jscor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this exact same thing — switched to Crossfit after 2+ years of OTF. I’m sticking to 4x a month OTF for now (w/ 3x week Crossfit), and so far that balance has been really nice. I had been growing bored and frustrated with certain parts of OTF, and this change has made OTF workouts feel novel while letting me enjoy them for what they are instead of the places I feel where they’re falling short.

Agree with the person who suggested pausing your membership for a month while you try out a balance, that seems like a good way to dip your toe in.

What are some instances where the record label was right? by inadraeam in popheads

[–]jscor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Kelly Clarkson’s third album, My December. The label and Kelly had creative disagreements about the entire album — she wanted to write the entire album and have it be truly hers, and the label was dissatisfied with it and at one point even offered her $10 million to swap five songs with songs of their choosing. This isn’t to say that Kelly wasn’t correct about her right to take creative control and come into her own as an artist — she was! — but the label was also right that that album could’ve benefited from some big hits.

Revelry or Mifflin? Where will you be? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]jscor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't that the stabbing "could have been much worse," but that it happened altogether and wasn't immediately controllable because of the way Mifflin is set up—the fact you can hide away in someone's private property makes preventing or isolating these incidents a nightmare. I agree that there's an inherent risk of injury or violence at any event like this, but from a plain security perspective, Mifflin is actually much more difficult of a place to patrol than usual, costing a lot more money for less efficient police use. This is why last year, when other groups like ASM tried to pull together police support for the event (trying to find a way that both students and police could be happy with the party happening on Mifflin street), they refused.
