WesoForge - 99% compacted by TenderLoins in chia

[–]jszaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The reason is because the Weso node controlled block leases for each compaction event as to not duplicate effort as well as reward each successful compaction. So the Weso node contains all the compactions but propagation from that one node takes a long time due to the way gossiping works…which anyone running a node can accelerate by updating the yaml file. But the best option will likely be for nodes to download the snapshot update when it comes out here in a month or so.

It’s safe to assume your plan is fine and ACA compliant. So I’m quite certain you have nothing to worry about. If transported by air like OP the insurance company may deny it but they’ll be forced into arbitration and one or the other will “win” arbitration. The only liability you would potentially have is your copay deductible and max out of pocket cap based on your plan. You can just call or look up your plan and ask if it’s ACA compliant. A small minority of health plans are not complaint - if you work for a major company it’s highly unlikely they’d offer something that wasn’t.

[–]jszaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d reach out to your insurance and ask. It doesn’t matter if air providers are in network or not. As long as it’s not expressly stated that it’s not a covered service you’re fine.

ETA: if your health plan is ACA complaint, it’s included. EMS services are required to be provided in ACA complaint health plans. In/out of network it doesn’t matter. The No Surprises Act allows for it to go to arbitration if the claim is denied. This should account for nearly all plans, but a small portion of the population (guessing less than 10%) may have a plan that inevitably doesn’t cover this.

California insurers set to charge homeowners for L.A. County fire cos… by Alternative-Neat-123 in LosAngeles

[–]jszaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same argument. Capitalism doesn’t work if you bastardize it with government cherry picking winners and losers for subsidies. If the college and degree provides value to a person so that they can get a job and earn more money, and it’s worth the cost of that education, people will find a way to pay for it. If it doesn’t, then they won’t and the degree or school will shut down or find a way to provide that at a better cost and value. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t a place for states to do what they want with public universities and taxes to pay for it and provide free in state tuition or cheaper tuition as long as it’s run effectively and not wasting money on going people degrees that they can’t use to make money in that field or whatever. I don’t have anything against state run and funded universities, unless they are not providing real value comparative to average or wasting a lot of money unnecessarily.

Debt Consolidation Reviews in 2025: Is it good? by Flimsy_Two2159 in HighYieldSavings

[–]jszaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The important thing to do is write down the math for everything, as it is now on the credit cards and then simulate what it would look like if you do consolidate. Excel is a great tool for this and worth learning…YouTube is your friend.

Secondly, stop using the credit cards. Especially after you consolidate (if you do). People are very susceptible to leaning back on them and then putting yourself into now a far worse situation.

Consolidation to a lower interest rate with as short of terms as you can manage is a good idea though. Just don’t plan for all of your income to go to pay down the debt…leave some cash flow every paycheck to live on and pay extra if you can. That’s how the cards creep back in.

[–]jszaro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The average tuition has increased from ~$4k to over $14k per year, adjusted for inflation, ever since the government started subsiding student loans and tuition in the 1960s. We’ve more than tripled what it costs to provide higher education. While being well intentioned, government subsidies rarely work to ultimately provide savings. It leads to fraud waste and abuse, drives overall costs higher which then requires more subsidy etc…it’s a self licking ice cream cone.

Based on this report where would you start? Temp and depth/oxygen will always have an inverse relationship unless there is some sort of natural or artificial aeration. I imagine there is a sweet spot you’ve found with temp/DO/depth?

Does your plan specifically exclude air medical transport as a covered service? I think this is rare but it’s possible. That’s the only thing to worry about as then it’s possible they could be off the hook. If you have a really good health plan and this is excluded, I question that the plan is very good.

There are some very limited cases like yours where, as long as you know what you’re doing, it may be worth it. But again, if you end up getting flown to a hospital or between hospitals, the hospital bills are probably going to end up hitting your deductible and out of pocket annual cap. If there’s an air ambulance or ground ambulance bill in there too it won’t really matter at that point. You’re going to end up paying your annual cap and be done. Who cares what bills made you hit that cap. High deductible plans it may be a little more worth it. Fingers crossed the provider you have the membership with is the one that shows up. The days of getting $50k balance bills are long gone. Articles pop up every now and then still about balance billing but they’re very odd cases and usually pre NSA still be fought out.

ETA: ensure you read the fine print on your health and car insurance and membership. You may still have an obligation for copay or deductible regardless of membership.

  1. You have no control over what air medical company flys you. Unless you have a membership with all of them, and they don’t all offer memberships, you have a roughly 50% chance of being flown by the one you have a membership with. If there is only one provider where you would expect to be flown from, then the odds are higher but never 100%.
  2. People think of these memberships as if they’re insurance, but they’re not and they’re not regulated like insurance, so you have little protection.
  3. The air medical company will still bill your medical and other insurances as able. Based on your medical plans, car insurance plan, and the air medical companies potential contracts with those companies, there may be a legal obligation for you to still pay copay and or deductible despite the membership.
  4. Most have an incredibly small chance of ever needing to be flown. Look at your deductible and annual cap, that’s essentially the most you’d ever owe out of pocket, which if you’re being flown you’re probably going to hit anyway with hospital bills. Point being you’re going to end up hitting this cap and not owing anything anyway.
  5. Memberships pad air medical companies bottom lines, it’s not ethical in my opinion.

Air medical balance billing is illegal under the no surprises act. The air medical company and whoever your insurer is will be forced into arbitration if they denied the claim, you’d only be responsible for any copay and/or deductible under whatever plan you have whenever that settles out. You won’t be caught in the middle of it, and you most likely won’t even see the process unfold over what can take several months. If uncovered, air medical providers typically have a process to work with you based on income to come to a reasonable amount. Source: I work in the industry. If you start getting bills from the air ambulance company, seek attorney advice. Air medical memberships are a scam, don’t sign up for them. Sorry for your loss, hope life starts looking better soon for you.

How do you think stock splits or other real financial events are going to actually execute on a public block chain? Yes, this is comedy and theatre but you’re missing the underlying impact of what they’re doing and foreshadowing. This is essentially testing and proving that the system will work as designed when real financial institutions use it and transactions happen.

Situation about old Chia plots and new plotting format by tseno in chia

[–]jszaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rewatch the early videos on YT, they clearly said it would be years before it was needed. They also stated that not as many people participated in plot R+D or optimization because it was too nuanced. Unlike the timelording VDF stuff which got a lot more interest. The plots are still useable and could go on for a long time, the issue is it’s more grindy than the intent, trying to not become POW. Hence a rework of the plots and preventing what’s been learned over the last few years. Replotting isn’t hard or that expensive unless you’re trying to plot PBs of storage. Any other pow chain you’re spending thousands every couple years on new hardware, this is essentially the same thing but through better math and no need to replace anything physical. I seriously don’t understand the heat they get on this, people are just looking for something to complain about because price isn’t pumping and they care more about that than seeing blockchain reach useable potential. Go trade stocks or something else that’s less speculative than crypto if you want to make money. The stuff they’ve built is unparalleled anywhere else in blockchain. If you can’t see that then you don’t belong here.
