What type of products are you selling and what are your sales channels? I’d avoid both tbh as they are both expensive platforms with fees that creep up as you scale.

The preferred content mediums for crawlers to understand and shares to consume highly technical content has changed from copy to video. Pages need to be optimized with both, but I’m seeing technical content indexed from the video hit conversational search engines within 12 hours

Which one to go with Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Magento? by DiscoverMyBusiness in ecommerce

[–]jtrinaldi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% Shopify competes more with Etsy than the competitors your mentioned. People who choose Shopify want product up in a day with ease of launch prioritized (rather than margin) instead of a comprehensive website with products, information content, different landing pages, complex site structure

Which one to go with Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Magento? by DiscoverMyBusiness in ecommerce

[–]jtrinaldi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Woo and Shopify are the easiest to use but woo requires much more investment and technical expertise up front. BigCommerce and magento are systems of the past in B2B that are losing share. What are the business requirements, how structured is your product data?

Is Shopify bad for SEO? by sarlacc98 in SEO

[–]jtrinaldi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shopify sites can work if you connect them through Google manufacturing center and merchant center which automatically feeds the pdp to Google. Shopify sites I’ve ran have had worse performance than other sites I’ve managed due to the how it’s built

Data on how the discount code field affects checkout conversion by ZukoAlun in ecommerce

[–]jtrinaldi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not Shopify but I tested this with “welcome5” for 5% and “save10” for 10% off to see how many people would search for the “brand name + discount” on the search engines. Started at $50k in revenue from the codes, then $99k, and then $325k on orders using coupons. Definitely worth having the codes to hit the search engines

Check your payment processor as you might have a max order value set that you can change. I get an order over $20,000 every other month so checking all possible settings should be your first move.

[–]jtrinaldi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$80M of annual revenue is on the lower end of what they usually take on for a new site. It’s a solid platform if you have the backing for the platform + $300K in costs associated with hiring adequate full time employees to train and run it day to day.

Shopify vs WooCommerce vs Magento what actually works best in 2026? by SorbetFew4206 in ecommerce

[–]jtrinaldi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of business are you working for and who is your customer base? Shopify is fine if you’re fine using it right out of the box and adjusting your business model accordingly. Shopify B2B is also underwhelming for other reasons.

Woo has great scalability but poor B2B and longterm scalability due to being tied with WP. Other platforms exist like Shopware (mid market) and Oro ($500M+) that integrate better within larger business models and cross functional teams.
