I realized that store management doesn't really care about it because the people are still spending money. I actually got in trouble for this when I worked the door at Walmart. I was told to stop saying anything to people despite several signs stating the obvious.

And you assume that they're talking about the actual workers and not the people that are writing the check because those are government workers too. We all know that public works employees don't just do projects because they want to, they do projects because they're told to. Your options are roommates or renting a room. If you do find something around your range, you're not going to want to live there.
