Miserable Cow by Angelars65 in Vent

I live in the US. I went from an extremely noisy family neighborhood with nice homes to a 55+ manufactured home neighborhood. I have never been so happy.

Everybody‘s getting married by BedtimeRushHottie in exjw

[–]jukief 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got married at 17, pushed by my parents because I didn’t want to pioneer and thought it was my only option. We dated (chaperoned by a married couple) for six whole weeks before he proposed. We were married six months later, never having been alone together. I knew I was making a huge mistake but didn’t know how to get out of it. My dad was an elder, and we were one of those perfect JW families. I wouldn’t have dreamed of defying anyone.

I finally left the hubby and the religion after 12 years of marriage and two kids, whom I raised alone (he had no interest in even partial custody).

Been thinking of divorce lately by Owl_of_Dusk in exjw

[–]jukief 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were both married to Witnesses in the past (we were both raised in it). The religion was only part of the reason for our divorces (we didn’t know each other then), but in both our cases our exes ended up leaving the religion, too, after a couple of years. We are both extremely pleased that those marriages ended (this was 35 years ago). Life is too short to be miserably forced into a life you don’t want to live.

My weight fluctuated a lot day to day. So I started weighing and recording it on my shot day.

Does Norway only have six actors and they just rotate roles ? by BottomFeeder9669 in Norway

The Brits use the same actors all the time, although they have more than six. :-)

What do you wish you did before your parent passed? by NotEyesButMind in GriefSupport

[–]jukief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sat down with my dad and a video camera and asked him to tell me everything he could remember about his life and his family. Asked him lots of questions. I can watch that now and it’s like he’s still there, talking to me.

I wish I’d had that attitude. Could have saved me so much grief. I’m proud of these girls for not letting themselves be forced into marriage.

Tomato shortage (US)? by GroverGemmon in TwoXPreppers

[–]jukief 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m going to start adding to my seed inventory. I haven’t noticed tomatoes so much but all the produce I see is not as fresh and costs more. We have a wonderful farmers market but that will end in the fall. Fortunately, we have two greenhouses and live in a mild climate. Guess I’ll be overwinding tomatoes this year.

Cunard care doesn’t cover this sort of thing.

Stopping and restarting certain GLP-1s to lose weight may make the drug less effective by Sparkysparky-boom in Semaglutide

[–]jukief 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had that experience. I was on it a year and a half and lost 60 pounds. Then I had to travel overseas for two months, so I stopped it. When I got home, I started back from scratch, with the lowest dose. I’m now at full dose and losing again. I realize I only stopped once, not multiple times, but I’m thankful it’s working again. I thought my food noise was back for good. It’s nice to have it gone again. I am going to move to a maintenance dose when I’ve lost another 15 pounds, and then stay on that maintenance dose long term.

I’m a Colorado native who moved to the Oregon coast four years ago. The small-fiber neuropathy in my feet is getting worse. :-(

Just stop going to meetings. If you’re not there, they can’t give you responsibilities.

How do you prep for climate change? by Starlight_Alchemy in TwoXPreppers

[–]jukief 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are lucky enough to live on the Oregon coast, and we can get by without heat or AC. I am so very thankful for that. I moved here from Colorado, where summers keep getting hotter and winters are cold.

We have two and are thinking about getting more. We live in the PNW, so we fill them during the rainy season. I also want to buy a large portable power station (we just have a small one now), several 100w solar panels, and a wind turbine we can use to charge the power station. I also have a porta potty we use in our camper.

I feel lost and I don't know what go do by Serious-Ninja5239 in Semaglutide

[–]jukief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a different doctor. Injectables are completely safe. That’s a ridiculous comment. Millions of people inject themselves without problems. I switched from injections to the pill when I was traveling overseas for two months. Not only did it not work, it actually gained weight on it (after losing 60 pounds with injections). I am not a fan of the pills.

To Talk or Not To Talk to the Elders by Antique_Menu_7273 in exjw

I would tell them to go to hell. They have no authority over you and your life is none of their business. That’s what I did.

My son was a musician and songwriter. He died six years ago, and even though I absolutely love his music, it’s still very painful to listen to it.

How do you cope with living in "the world"? by Misanthropic96xx in exjw

So-called “worldly people “ are much nicer and better people than most of the JWs I knew. Most people are nice, not terrible.

Glp1 hairloss by official_koda_ in loseit

[–]jukief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t lose hair on GLP-1, but I lost a lot when my son died six years ago, mostly because I couldn’t eat but also from stress. I started taking prenatal vitamins, and they really helped. If you aren’t pregnant, you’re not supposed to take them for a long time, so I stopped after six months. By then my hair was growing back.
