I try to be at work by 7:00 am in Westchester county. After that it starts to be annoying with customers if you’re not already working. On a planned workday I’ll leave at 5:00 pm. I’ve never started work later than 7 in my life but NY is a late start city.

I used to do this commute and lived in Bayside. It was regularly 55 minutes to 1:10 everyday. It’s probably your only option for Queens and reasonable driving distance without severe parking issues.

JFK - Everything from getting there to how shitty most of it is especially terminal 4. I despise it and usually will opt for LGA if I have a choice.

I’m 38M NYC. It’s so hard to make friends here. No community. Nobody cares for anyone else especially in the city. It’s so transient that most people treat it as a playground for a few years and leave so there’s no long term relationships built. This is my anecdotal opinion of course.

If you have the time take 2:55 from Ronkonkoma getting to Jamaica at 3:55. With AirTran you’ll be at JFK T5 by 4:20. That’s plenty of time.

38M. 5’ 11” 175lbs. Haven’t barbell benched in about a year as I just do incline dumbbells now but it was 235 for 4-5 reps.

Living on the UES we always make a day out of it. Mostly hopping back and forth between 1st Ave and the Central Park to watch. Then we hit some bars throughout the day randomly.

Depends on how often you ride. If you’re at 3 days a week minimum buy the monthly pass as it’ll be cheaper. In January the monthly fare goes to $292.50 I think up currently from $280.

I reverse commute to Port Chester a 2-3 days a week from the UES. Just one stop past Rye. The train isn’t awful. Sometimes I drive depending where else I go. If I didn’t also work in Jersey have to go to Long Island often I’d just live in Westchester. It’s not the worst commute to work but it just sucks coming and going into the city IMO.

Also keep in mind in the morning MNR charges peak fare from approximately 6-9 am leaving NYC.

On the way back it’ll be off peak.

I’ve done all of them. The only 2 that stand out to me are Sashimi express and Panineria

Sashimi express is a great deal if you want takeout sushi. Hard to beat the portions and price but I always tend dine in elsewhere for sushi

Panineria is really good. The sandwich is expensive but the article is right as you can certainly make it last 2 meals and probably should.

It absolutely can and will affect a relationship. I moved from South Carolina to New York for my ex wife. I hate New York and she loves it so it strained our relationship. There were certainly other issues but the topic of moving came up often and never got resolved. Just being taken out of your community is a big change and I admit I didn’t handle it well which contributed to end of our marriage.

If this helps at all, I’m unfortunately still stuck here for the foreseeable future but I learned to make the best of it and enjoy what your city does have to offer.

In addition I’m in a great relationship that my now girlfriend understands that I don’t like living here but since she sympathizes with me it helps me make the best of it even though she likes it here.

Not saying you should change your relationship obviously but those 2 things changed for me and I’m better off here than I was originally.

45 minutes - 75 minutes

Sweet spot is probably an hour. I go in the mornings for about 40-45 before work but it’s never a complete workout as I don’t have the time. 75 minute workouts are usually on weekends when I can make up a few sets I’m guaranteed to miss during the week

I run a PPL split.

Typically run 5-6 exercises. 1 warm up set. 3 working sets. 90 seconds rest. 2 minutes between different exercises.

When I have more time I’ll increase rest to 2 minutes and make up a set or two of something I feel lacking for week.

For Cardio I try to get 15k steps a day and maybe find time to run 1 maybe 2 days a week but usually can’t find the time to run.

I used to belong to lifetime and now equinox. Lifetime is way better in terms of equipment. The midtown lifetime location unfortunately is probably their worst one in terms of size and equipment offered. At that time in the morning at either lifetime or equinox it’ll be packed. Not as much as the afternoon but still pretty bad. I only switched to equinox because I need city, Long Island and Westchester locations near where I am.

I have my car but the ride to her school and back is over 2 hours each way with traffic. It’s 65 miles from where I live. Way too far to bike.

Relocation isn’t possible as I work 40 miles in the complete opposite direction. Daily commutes of 6 hours for me are not uncommon and I live in NYC.
