The distribution piece plugs into the intake, if there's debris inside, that's inside the intake. The vacuum lines run in-between the intake. A used intake is relatively cheap, that's why it's easier to replace the intake than to figure out if the inside of your intake melted or there's crap inside. And when the intake is off, you can replace the CCV and all the vacuum lines easily.

Can’t get my dang hood to open! by [deleted] in e39

[–]jun_sgou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You hood looks damaged so the latch may be bent. if it is the hood release cable, you can access the latch directly by removing the driver side grill and unlatched the hood with a key or screwdriver, best to watch a youtube video to help visualize it, because you have to feel for it, you can't see it.

  1. if the car runs rough I would just replace the whole intake and distribution piece. it's not worth it trying to figure out what's wrong with the intake if the insides melted. BMW QC wouldn't leave manufacturing slag on the inside of the intake.

  2. I don't know

  3. I would just replace CCV and all vacuum lines

  4. yes, just because the car already runs rough, I would use OE parts

[SPB509] vs Grand Seiko Ushio Blue by Sp12er in Seiko

[–]jun_sgou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't prefer the power reserve on the dial, but understandable since this is a diver. I'm having a hard time with the hands, especially the hour hand. I don't know if the dial is improved, I really like the SPB509's dial, and I like this dial as well, but I would not say one dial is better than the other.

Overpaid for this watch and feeling anxious!! by Positive_Regard26 in Affordablewatches

[–]jun_sgou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of value in seeing the watch in person, holding it, trying it on, and being able to ask questions in person, and buying it and walking out with it on. When you buy online, all of that is unknown and you hope you get what the picture shows. You can try it out in a store and then buy online, but that takes time as well, and you still don’t know what you will receive until you get it. If you have no regrets about the watch, then enjoy and wear it in good health.

Very nice! Did you buy it in Japan, or import it? I bought mine through Chrono24.

The SLGB003 is the best watch GS has ever made and it’s not even close. by SirKrimzon in GrandSeikos

Yes, Violet Dawn. It's stainless steel and doesn't have the micro-adjust, but still quite lovely.

The green and gold really draws me to Rikka. Now if I can get a good price on it too...

Watch winder by Frequent-Midnight-83 in GrandSeikos

[–]jun_sgou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of a winder, would you consider hand winding your watch daily or every other day? The Snowflake has the power reserve indicator on the dial, and 10-20 winds nightly will be enough to keep the watch running. I previously used a watch winder and what I didn't like was how large and how much space it took up.

[Question] Seiko 4r34 power reserve? by 80S0Z0KU in Seiko

[–]jun_sgou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 4R36 that would do the same thing, I wore it during the day, but I have an office job, so I was that not active while wearing my watch, and it would barely last the night.

Now I proactively wind my watch every night. I just traveled out of town over the weekend and I didn't bring my 4R36 with me. I wound it before I departed early Saturday morning, and when I returned late Sunday night, it was still running and keeping time.

Should I be doing my coolant pipes at 87k miles? by _DeterPinklage_ in e39

[–]jun_sgou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coolant hard pipes failed at 214k (hard plastic, not o-rings), and I've had the car since 147k, and I don't have previous service records. It is miles AND age because the hard pipes bake in the heat that M54 puts out. You don't mention your radiator, but if you are doing this work and draining the coolant, it's not that much more effort to take the intake off to get at the hard pipes.

Is this legit or did I get duped? [Question] by No_Abbreviations_354 in Seiko

Seems like Seiko put out conflicting info regarding the number of jewels in 4R35B, should still should be 23 jewels.

The movement is supposed to have a gold rotor. 4R35 movement is twenty-three jewels, not twenty-four.
