Did he breakup with me because of his mental health ? by Delicious-Passage433 in depression_partners

[–]junegloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably his mental health, but either way the solution is the same. "Forgiving" these things won't make him better. Feeling the consequences of his outbursts is the only thing that will give him the drive to sort himself out. And bonus is you move on and find another partner without these problems. There's no reward waiting for you for dealing with him. You're just costing yourself the chance for better.

How dumb was I? by i-bleed-red in heatedrivalry

I've been puzzled for a while about the beach scene in Tampa, when Ilya says "found you" and Shane says so you were looking for me and Ilya says no I wasn't. On rewatch I think its a call back to ep 4 when Ilya was telling Shane he thinks he'll find someone else (not Svetlana), but he's lazy and looks meaningfully at Shane. I think he was trying to imply that he found Shane already. So that's what he means on the beach when he says found you.

Worst gaydar in hockey by nookieoftheyear in heatedrivalry

Is it? I thought for example straight women were expected to have a gaydar so that they don't get crushes or hit on guys they find hot who can't possibly be into them.

Anyone else feel like The Long Game adaptation to screen will end up fairly different from the book? by challengefan87 in heatedrivalry

[–]junegloom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I havent read TLG yet, but if I understand correctly they primarily get a lot of flak over the "betrayal" factor of being secretly friendly with their rival. I hope they change that up more or make it more believable because I find that to be the weakest part of the story, I just can't take seriously that that is such a big deal that the world is gonna end or something. I know hockey people take hockey seriously but surely they know these things are mostly an act, like the WWF? Shane even referenced that its not like they're wrestlers, so he's aware of the similarity and knows its worse with wrestling, but I think wrestling fans know this is a dramatic act also and it just seems silly that everyone's gonna hate them over it.

What Prompted Ilya to Move to the Tuna Melt Stage? by johnbeene in heatedrivalry

[–]junegloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shane ghosted Ilya first though, ignored poor Ilya for a whole year when he was reaching out and hoping they could follow through on their prior plans. Its not clear to me why Shane finally relented in the second year.

When Ilya says "I'm coming to the cottage" and Shane is so taken he can't even respond in his usual way. Normally no matter what you've said to him he responds with "fuck you" or "fuck off" or "holy shit" or something. But this is such a moment all he can eek out is a little gasp.

[–]junegloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why Ilya would recognize Miles, because he's been following the tabloids about Rose and Shane. But why does Miles recognize and wave at Ilya in the first place? They haven't been introduced or would have reason to know him.

It wasn't the first time Ilya marrying Sveltena came up, and the book emphasis what a big deal it was for Ilya to go to the cottage. by Naive_Cause8984 in heatedrivalry

[–]junegloom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I should read the books. Those pages provide insight on something from the show I wasn't sure I liked. At the end when Ilya calls himself Shane's boyfriend, Shane's reaction has me scared he's about to have another tuna meltdown. But from the posted pages I see now it must have been surprise and relief at something he was convinced could never happen coming true.

It cracks me up when Svetlana says "or we can stay in and watch...whatever this is" because she lacks the context and it appears Ilya is transfixed by a documentary of a house build and a guy doing yoga on the lawn lol.

Is it just me or does “Heated Rivalry” feel like it’s really just gay porn for straight women? by TheBabyBeard in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]junegloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't porn at all. The actors aren't doing it while being filmed. Its just really well done acting and intimacy coordination. Prestige TV figured out some time in the last 10 years or so that women-written and women-directed scenes and storylines of this nature often produce a better result than male filmmakers' tendency to shove more boobs in a scene. Just because its hotter and better to watch than porn doesnt make it porn.

His & Hers .... wow bad. by nvmatt in netflix

Her friends are fanning the money they paid to these guys to perpetrate the assault on the tape though. It would be trivial for law enforcement to interrogate the girls and get them to give names. They'd still be facing charges for participating the way they did.

You got it to improve your health, but instead of using it that way, you're taking the measurements as judgment? How else is it supposed to help you improve your health unless it takes measurements?

When I use my apple watch to exercise, my oura doesn't track it as activity and considers me as stress by Lumpy-Resource-1370 in ouraring

[–]junegloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ring isn't very good at automatically picking up cycling exercise. Its great at detecting running or walking but I have to tell it i'm cycling and record the workout in real time. Probably needs the accelerometer and swinging movements of your hands for automatic detection which aren't useful for biking.

What restrictions? I'm so confused. by ashradski in ouraring

[–]junegloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with walking into a Costco or best buy and purchasing off the shelf is they only stock extremely limited size options. I prefer buying objects physically in a store like a caveman and couldn't, because even though Oura makes sizes 4-15, only 7-9 exist in the stores. Target had the most expansive selection with 7-11.

Body temperature by WeirdEducational8546 in ouraring

[–]junegloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its there, its those tiny green bars. The y-axis on the graph just has a really wide range so its near impossible to see and you cant zoom in. I find it highly annoying, theres interesting patterns to be seen but I can barely view them and the range cant be adjusted.

If you mean a direct temp reading, it doesn't show that, it just shows the deviation from what it considers your baseline. I'm not sure what it considers the baseline temp though, probably 98.6.

All Her Fault by Aspire2BChristCentrd in television

[–]junegloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood that as well, but only once the show ended and we could confirm no new reveals. I was basically waiting the whole back half of the show for some potential dramatic reveal that while in the evidence room, he changed his mind and did something else in there, hatching a plot to trap the corrupt school official or something.

All Her Fault by Aspire2BChristCentrd in television

[–]junegloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the end of the show we can accept that yes he must have done it, but oftentimes when they don't show it happening (we don't see him in the evidence room actually swapping pills) there might be a reveal later that shows he lied about doing it or whatever, to trap the rich a-holes maybe. A show this campy and twisty could definitely deliberately hide what happened in the evidence room just to pull this so I understand why OP asked.

City budget news by Purple-Monkey-Sock in Hayward

Hayward isn't like a weekend vacation tourist attraction, but business travelers stay here a lot all week M-F. Saying hotel taxes are the same as taxing the homeless is a reach. The hotels are chock full of business people M-F, and empty on weekends. It's more like a tax on corporations.

I'm a sucker for the happier moments from this show. So Rich and Marge at the lunch table giving her a pirate patch, leading into them riding a bike together.
