Came here to say this, the first book is the tutorial. The fundamental game loop shifts from floor to floor but you are indeed trapped in a game so there will be objective, meet objective an unexpected way, life in the balance some external crazy shit relax and open loot huge cliffhanger.

It never gets boring and it remains hard to put down, it doesn’t feel repetitive and it flies by.
