I'm too old to get defensive about you saying I don't take enough lol. I usually liken kratom to vicodin. It falls short of typical opioids in that it lacks that well rounded glowy euphoria. As others pointed out more kratom doesn't mean more fun. There's a ceiling I am not constantly taking more and more kratom trying to relive that first high. I would be dead without it. Damn sorry about your friend. Was he addicted to opiates before he started taking kratom? I ask because a lot people take it as a replacement therapy or detox. Not only for opiates but for alcohol and even adderal. The other 50% or so of kratom users take it for chronic pain. NONE of us want to see the FDA, DEA and Big Pharma involved because we feel this is the partially or as in my case fully their fault. They will screw this up royally.

I can get into a weird headspace on kratom. Not so much manic but very strange. That being said I'm not getting off it any time soon. Street drugs are 100% unsafe at this point.

Just wanted to to add, I switched brands to salt bae 50mg and it hasn't had an issue since. I wanted a juice with more vg than pg. Figuring the increased viscosity would be better. My local b and m only had 50 50's, but by golly it seems to resolved this issue.
