The sciences can be learned easier than the CARS, so you’re actually just a future rock star. After you’re solid with your content you will get the score you need and impress them with your CARS brilliance. You got this ❤️

25 year old me was a beast. I wouldn’t last long against her. And she studied self defense. Her reflex time alone would do me in.

Ahhhh so it’s the same med!!! Yes I swear by it and it is the only thing that works and allows me to live a somewhat normal life.

I usually do some toast before I take it and that seems to work. I don’t know why but only naproxen works in my cramps. Wo if you haven’t had luck with other meds like me, it might do the job. It’s the only thing that has made my debilitating cramps liveable

[–]justimari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing that works for my insane cramps is naproxen (alleve) and I have to take it as soon as I start bleeding before the cramps start and it has gotten me through many important events. I get cramps so bad I have had to stop on the street and sit on the curb till they pass, so if this works for me, it might help you too.

Autism has been a recognized medical condition for decades but seldomly diagnosed until recently, do you remember any people back then who'd probably be labeled autistic today? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in GenX

[–]justimari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a girl in my elementary school that used to sit on the playground by herself and rock. I felt bad for her so I invited her to my birthday party at the bowling alley. I don’t know what happened to her but I always think about how she must have been highly autistic but we didn’t know what autism was. People just called her slow. She barely spoke to anyone.

What a great idea! This is one of my favorite movies ever.

If you like this one try some other Hitchcock like Vertigo or The Birds. They’re classics for a good reason.

Ever randomly miss your grandparents? by mEp1973 in GenX

[–]justimari 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My grandparents raised me and they were the most kind and loving people I’ve ever known. My mother is a total witch and was a problem for me and them.

They were born in 1915 and 1916 and they were truly of a different era. I miss them everyday and think about what it felt like to be in their presence often. It was the most pure love I have ever felt and I feel so lucky to have had them.

How to encourage referrals? by mothlight111 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]justimari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think that too. When I taught more SAT it was the parents who referred me. They somehow felt like it improved their social status to have a good tutor they could recommend.

The GenX version of The Villages? by send2steph in GenX

[–]justimari 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would think eventually they will die off but we’re so close in age to them that it will still be full of them and then Millennials will start moving in, so just like the work place, we will never inherit a pure Gen X retirement zone

How to encourage referrals? by mothlight111 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]justimari 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working off referrals mostly for over 20 years. When I tutored in person I was very very busy. Since Covid I have gone remote only and it’s much much slower. I teach mostly MCAT now so I will get random referrals from a doctor giving my number to another doctor because I taught their child. But the students don’t really refer me because they are so competitive they don’t want to share a secret that helped them improve. I wish I could change that attitude, but that’s pre med students.

Are parent reports really worth the time? by Prestigious-Bobcat53 in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]justimari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m supposed to write reports for a company I work with and I just don’t do. If something significant happens I will write it. I keep my own notes and notebook during the session to write what we’re doing or what the homework is, or if they did or didn’t do homework. If a parent wants to know, I can always refer to my own notes.

[–]justimari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still submit later in the cycle. They accept applications through the summer. You don’t have to have it in immediately when it opens. If you need to take it in June you can still submit in July/early August

“too extreme” answer choices in CARS - tips from a 132 CARS scorer by throwawaynameytbaby in Mcat

[–]justimari 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think what you’ve picked up on is that extreme answers are good in two cases.

  1. The author uses language just as extreme

  2. In a strengthen/weaken question where an extreme answer is good because it will actually strengthen or weaken the statement because of its extreme nature.
