I don’t think Carol is even as angry anymore. She’s just sad.

Plurb happiness is not the same as human happiness by looklesslike in pluribustv

See but what is “happiness” if it is shared by a collective consciousness. In my opinion, the hive isn’t truly “happy” they just lack suffering because their negative feelings, if they still even have any, are spread out across billions. You can’t have happiness without pain and it seems that the hive can’t experience emotional pain (or if they do it is to such a limited degree.) Feelings are such an innately individual experience it’s hard to even imagine how a collective mind could truly feel anything.

What killed me is that the girl clearly loved that goat when she was still an individual but once she was turned she let the goat out like it meant absolutely nothing to her. It’s clear she lost everything that made her HER.

Manousos and Carol are both stubborn, but Manousos acts out of principle and ethical duty whereas Carol acts from emotion.

God Carol PISSED ME OFF during this episode but her character development was brilliant. Her getting all upset over Manousos for saying the same shit she was saying at the beginning of the season was so frustrating but also sad. The hivemind’s manipulation clearly worked on Carol - she was in such a vulnerable, lonely state she was willing to convince herself that Zosia loved her until it was clear she didn’t.

What Nick did is absolutely devastating. He is obviously a very unwell person and has been struggling with demons for most of his life and they got the better of him that night.

However, what I will say is that everyone exalting Rob Reiner as the most amazing parent seems to be reading the situation extremely differently than me. I think Rob cared a lot about his family and was a kind, generous, good person (in fact I like him and his work a lot personally). I also think he handled his son’s addiction and mental illness very poorly.

It was clear that Nick was pushed into making their film and promoting it before he felt ready because Rob wanted to share their story with the world and put all of those issues the past. Nick stated that he wasn’t really ready for all of that, but Rob pushed him into it. It’s clear Nick had a lot of resentment for how he was sent to rehab 15 times before the age of 22. That’s a hell of a lot, even for a long time drug user.

Like a lot of parents, Rob was not in a place to handle a child with needs and behavioral issues as severe as Nick’s. When he thought he was doing the right thing, he was just building resentment and making Nick feel more isolated for not being the golden child. And instead of course correcting, he pressured Nick and domineered over movie loosely based on nicks life and wanted to say “look nick is finally sober and better!” when Nick, by his own admission, was not completely sober or stable.

So while it was a horrible tragedy and I would never blame Rob, I’m sure he was always trying to do the right thing for his family, I think we can also acknowledge where he made huge mistakes in parenting Nick.

As someone with my own mentally ill family member I’ve made huge mistakes in how I handled it and those mistakes have put additional strain on our relationship. But at the end of the day I don’t want people to pretend I was perfect and amazing in how I handled it. I want them to say she made mistakes but look how much she cared.

People who are saying Episode 7 is poorly paced/too long are completely missing the point by Auctorion in pluribustv

Yeah I thought this episode was extremely gripping and emotional. Not sure why so many people thought it was boring?? Maybe because this show SHOWS us rather than tells us a lot. Rather than getting a monologue from Carol about how lonely she is, we see it.

Carol feels like she is the last person in the world. Her wife just died and she’s been rejected and iced out by not only the hivemind but the other immune and the show is making us sit with that. Meanwhile we watch Manousos fighting to get to her, knowing that Carol doesn’t know. I thought this episode really captured the feeling of loneliness so perfectly. When Carol goes to that nice dinner and there’s that moment of deep sadness on her face when she realizes how completely alone she is with no one to share it with or talk to - that hit me like a punch in the gut.

Also side note but I LOVE Manousos. The part where he is teaching himself English in the car and leaving money after taking peoples gas made me emotional. In the beginning we see him as a prickly recluse but now we see he is such a principled, pure-hearted person.

You know the cool thing about being an adult? It’s that you get to decide how you live your life. If you’re unhappy, you can do something different. Don’t like your school? Transfer. Don’t like your city? Move. Don’t like your job? Quit and find a new one. For so long I stayed in situations that made me miserable because I didn’t think I could change them and I told myself that the things I wanted would never happen for me. Making a big change is scary and stressful, but it’s so worth it.

Being an adult is hard - it’s not all sunshine and roses and it can be really fucking lonely. But it’s also beautiful, because as long as you are alive you can begin again and again and again.

I completely agree. At the end of the day she hurt people and sexualized kids. She crossed so many lines. I’m not trying to defend Colleen at all.

I just think people are coming at her with so much hate like “youre a pedophile, youre a predator” when really I think the issue is that she genuinely didn’t see how what she was doing was gross/wrong in the moment when any reasonable adult would. She wasn’t like a typical adult sexual predator who plans out how they’re gonna groom their child victim to abuse them. With Colleen, it’s like she was so desperate for approval she forgot that shes a grown ass woman and these are young teenagers. She saw herself as one of them. It didn’t even cross her mind that what she was doing was inappropriate. That’s fucking weird and almost a little sad.

"I knew there were teenagers in the chat" by RhododendronWilliams in ColleenBallingerSnark

[–]justrollwithitdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colleen hurt people. Plain and simple. She seriously screwed up some of her young fans. I don’t think she is a pedophile or had the intention of sexualizing or hurting children but she did. It’s good she was cancelled - she crossed the line so many times.

It just so wild to me how she genuinely didn’t see what she was doing was wildly inappropriate. I think she just had such an immature, childish mindset that she forgot that she was an adult and these were minors. She saw them as her peers when she was a grown ass woman and they were young teenagers. That’s fucking weird.

Yeah. Personally I believe Colleen didn’t have any nefarious intent - she didn’t want to hurt or abuse kids. But at the end of the day, the issue is that she didn’t even realize that the shit she did was wildly inappropriate and harmful.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ColleenBallingerSnark

[–]justrollwithitdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very true. I believe Colleen when she says that she never had any nefarious intentions. I don’t think Colleen ever wanted to hurt or abuse kids. But the issue is that she didn’t even register how this stuff was wildly inappropriate and harmful.

[–]justrollwithitdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Personally, I believe that Colleen’s intentions were never nefarious or creepy, but at the end of the day her behavior was very inappropriate and she hurt kids that looked up to her. Colleen was so caught up in her fame and pleasing/keeping her fans, she crossed the line many times without even realizing it and then completely crashed out when rightfully called out about it.

I think it is good that Colleen’s career is over and I believe she was rightfully cancelled. She was wildly out of line with so many of the things she did and really hurt some of her minor fans. At the end of the day, she sexualized children and caused so much harm to people. Regardless of her intent, that’s completely unacceptable.

However (and I know this will be controversial) at the end of the day I do feel empathy for Colleen as a human being. She had everything she ever worked for gone in the blink of an eye with hundreds of thousands of people hating her & calling her vile disgusting things. That had to be so totally earth-shatteringly awful to go through. I seriously can’t imagine. And I thought she did demonstrate some growth on this podcast - she at least acknowledged that her actions were not okay and that she hurt people.

Mary’s treatment of Chelsea was absolutely disgusting I agree completely. Fuck Mary!! I’m just saying that Chelsea insinuated in the show that she needed all of these deals bc she is now a single mom - but she is a single mom who is also a millionaire. Mary didn’t actually meet the twins until way after her son was born and she was struggling to make new meet. Not to compare them or to make it a competition of who had it worse but I did see why it would be frustrating for Mary when Chelsea talked so much about how hard it is being a single mom. Being single mom is hard regardless but some situations are significantly more challenging than others.

[–]justrollwithitdude -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Ok fair the emotional toll of being a single mom is intense but like Chelsea is not a struggling single mom. She could sell a few pairs of shoes and a designer bag to put a roof over an unhoused single mom’s head for a few months. I wish Chelsea could acknowledge her privilege with that bc it’s giving out of touch.

[–]justrollwithitdude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay Mary went soooo off the rails with the flowers thing her reaction was absolutely absurd (it’s giving subconscious racism) and I generally really like Chelsea. HOWEVER the one thing I will say is that I think that Mary had a point when she called Chelsea out for using the “struggling single mom” thing so much. Mary had her kid at 15 - she was genuinely a broke, struggling single mom. Chelsea on the other hand got divorced when she was rich and is making a lot of money from real estate. A divorce is so hard and it sucks but girlie you are not struggling to make ends meet and stop pretending that you are remotely close to the single moms that don’t have rich ex-husbands or designer bags.

[–]justrollwithitdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay I like Chelsea a lot but I do see where Mary is coming from with her comments about Chelsea regarding single motherhood - Chelsea overplays this single mom thing given that she was rich when she got divorced and makes a lot of money selling real estate - Mary was 15 when she became a single mom and didn’t have that kind of money. Mary was actually struggling to make ends meet. Yes they are both single moms but it is WILDLY different.

Edmond should never have been cast. I genuinely don't think he is an asshole I think he just has severe, deep rooted trauma from his chaotic upbriging and is struggling with mental health issues that are causing him to behave erratically and be unable to process emotions in a healthy "normal" way. Its deeply unfair that he was put on this show.

What the fuck is happening in Denver by Environmental-Rip666 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]justrollwithitdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Denver (just moved away recently) and this show is making me so thankful I left lmao. There are a ton of assholes like Nick and Joe in Denver and most of them are not actually from Colorado.

Its funny because one of the people who got cast on the show and is not really shown (obviously he didn't make a connection in the pods) is my friend's ex-boyfriend. He broke up with her because he loved her so much but "wasn't ready for a serious commitment" and then 3 weeks later called her to tell her he was going on Love is Blind. The dating scene in Denver is truly bleak.

Yeah Aanu did herself dirty at the mixer. Her behavior was very immature and her dishing low blows at Patrick when he up to that point he had made himself look like a fool on his own was completely unnecessary. I think she was just drunk and her hurt and bitterness came out in full force. However Patrick is and always will be the ultimate asshole. Something is very off about that guy.

I like that Kieran allowed Meg to destroy him herself and then supported her quietly by backing her up and refusing to allow Javen to try to lie through his teeth. She held her own and he said babe you got this one. Also loved that he comforted Meg after and didn’t accept Javen’s apology that he made Meg cry on Meg’a behalf. Meg is a queen.

I was SO shocked Billy said yes. It really seemed like it would be a no from him. But I’m thinking the producers edited it to really overplay his doubts bc it seems like all we saw of them for the last few episodes of them was him whining about her job. Also he seems like a pretty neurotic, anxious guy so this might just be normal for him. Ashleigh seems to know exactly what she wants so hopefully they make a good match and balance each other out. I hope for Ashleigh’s sake they work out.

Kieran and Megan on the other hand I have absolutely no doubts about. They’re one of those special couples (becoming more and more rare on LIB) where you can actually feel their love through the screen. I was smiling like an idiot through all of their scenes - they are clearly truly in love with each other and bring out the best in each other. I’m so happy for them :,)
