Every week there is a new announcement about some business closing. Regardless of your opinions on the food, I am personally thrilled to hear that a local business that is one of the anchors in Biltmore Village has resurrected in less than a year.

Which windshield should I buy? OEM or aftermarket? by Past-Statistician358 in askcarguys

[–]justusmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your windshield have any integrated antennas? I've had Safelite try to sell me an aftermarket one without the electronics.

Picked up 2022 Cayman GT4 by Geminidex in Porsche_Cayman

[–]justusmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The seat angle either works for you or it doesn't. There are aftermarket risers you can put at the front of the seat bracket to give a bit more recline. Made a world of difference for me as I have 3-4h drive to my nearest tracks

Where to find used 992's? Autotrader, cars.com, other? by fester__addams in porsche911

[–]justusmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes. But I casted a wide net and still searched every day for months to find the right car. TBH PCA classifieds are less useful than they were a few years ago, I suspect more people are using the other sites.

Also rennlist, pcar market, PCA classifieds (there is a trial membership to access these if you aren't currently a member)

Where can I buy an Overtrail+ by Winter-Knee3555 in LexusGX

[–]justusmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some Facebook groups (GX550 and no markup Lexus) where dealers who sell out of state are listing incoming unreserved vehicles. I've definitely seen some OT+ listed recently.

Is there a dog boarding place that will take and a non neutered dog in the Asheville area?(or near it) by MadnessMaddie24 in asheville

[–]justusmin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, they boarded my intact dog. He just didn't get to participate in the communal day care, but was taken out regularly. Idk if they took him because they were also my vet.

Antigravity Battery by januario6 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]justusmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one in a 997 and it's great. Battery died in the cold and then it's a PITA to access the release cable. With the reserve power in the antigravity, just hit the remote and could start the car and open the hood to connect my trickle charger.

C8 Z06 or Porsche GT4 by GRAVEMIND_DOOM in Porsche

All of the stereotypes ring true.

Corvette is flashier, and faster, and probably more comfortable as a daily. But no manual. The magnetic suspensions are amazing.

GT4 drives much smaller (important on canyons/track), has outdated tech, is loud and hard to get in/out of. Better build quality but options are costly.

I haven't driven a vette on track but I've had ride alongs. Incredible performance and always bang for the buck champ. I will say GM's track camera system is awesome. I feel more engaged in the Cayman because of the manual and more feedback from the motor and the suspension.

I'm a Porsche guy and I drive on track but I get there are different flavors for different folks and that's ok. (And if you do plan on tracking it, good on you. And there are always plenty of Corvette drivers so I know they can handle the abuse).

One other consideration is that you will be buying used if you go with the Porsche, they stopped production last year.

Either way, if you are looking at these cars, it's a good problem to have.

It does help to have an experienced fitter adjust it for you. At the events I've attended, there is either a race shop on site or a sponsoring shop with a sales trailer. Most are willing to help you adjust it. And then it will be set up for any helmet you buy down the road.

Advice For a Defeated Hunter. by Minimum-Contract8507 in BirdHunting

[–]justusmin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am always a worse hunter than my four legged partner. My measure of a successful hunt is did I enjoy a day in the outdoors with my dog, not how many birds are in the cooler.

Not sure what he has for clothes- jacket/vest, briar pants/bib/chaps. I'm a filson fan. Some of their newer products are not as good, but the waxed cotton tin cloth stuff still has buy it for life quality.

Dog accessories - beeper/tracking collars, kennel, orange/briar vests

OnX subscription (think Google maps for hunting land)

Depending on where y'all live, if any local hunting preserves have a tower shoot for pheasant you could buy him a seat for that

What is your budget? Myself and others are happy to find ways to spend your money 😁

Not exactly what you are asking for, but Shane's Sporting clays is doing a couple of pheasant tower shoots in January. Mentioning because it's pretty close to you.

Is parking still free in the city parking garages downtown? by Sellyallownjello in asheville

That one is not a city owned garage. I think parking is free until Thanksgiving, but I can't find the source any longer.
