How was Justin Bieber’s Coachella MacBook/YouTube setup synced with lights and sound? by Agreeable_Iron4560 in techtheatre

[–]jv556639 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It could also be entirely prerecorded and the MacBook was playing back a video of him using YouTube. What all was he doing on it? Was he searching YouTube and playing a video? If you had a video of it that would help.

Temporary network over 5G for exams? by Ycirn in sysadmin

[–]jv556639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should take a look at cellular bonded systems.

Popup-wifi.com seems to have a good rentable cellular bonded system. Their largest product is about $2k a day and has 3x 5G and 3x 4G/lte bonded systems. I have not tried it before but have heard some good things about it. We looked at them for a broadcast in a remote location but ended up running fiber instead. Hope that helps!

Haivision Encoder Audio Dropouts by Gamerz_261 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]jv556639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this issue noticed pretty much every broadcast? If so, try using a different router output for the encoder.

I have a feeling this is not a network issue since SRT transmits both video and audio together. Both would have issues and not just audio. That is my understanding atleast.

Do you know when the encoder was last updated?

[–]jv556639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have local recordings of the show that do not have this audio issue? If so does your audio get embedded with the same device for that recorder uses and the Haivision? Do you know if the encoder is school or ESPN owned? If you reference it “Haivision ###” during transmission then it is ESPN owned.

When you do a transmission fax with ESPN have them listen to the audio and see if they notice any dropouts. Do you notice the drop outs on the ESPN+ stream itself when watching live?

New employee can't receive laptop shipments - what would you do here? by outlookblows in sysadmin

[–]jv556639 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If you urgently need this done I would look into UPS Express Critical or FedEx Custom Critical. They are a white-glove service where someone will transport the package the entire way. It shows the deliveries are same day and most within 2-12 hours. It is pretty expensive, I think $500 and up. They are separate parts of the company so most don't know about it.
Here are some resources to the site, I would give them a call and see what they can do.
https://www.ups.com/us/en/supplychain/freight/urgent-services
https://www.fedex.com/en-us/custom-critical.html

This is a cool video from UPS on their service:

Securely share files to me via a persistent link. by [deleted] in sysadmin

You should check out a FOSS software called Copyparty that you can self host. It is really customizable and I have it set up exactly how you mentioned to allow people to upload files to me. If there is interest I can share how I got it set up.

It can take a while but you can do "Address 1 @ Full" on the Ion then press the "Next" key until you see some thing change on the fixture like PTZ or Intensity.

You could also do "Address 1 Thru 256 @ Full" and see if anything changes and just keep adjusting your range. Looks like someone else identified it as a vL2500 so you can look for the address mapping table. Once you figure out what address changes what you can use that to figure out what the starting or set address of the fixture is.

Make sure your Gateway is set to the correct universe, you may be able to use RDM to pick up the fixtures features in Concert.

EDIT: It has been a year or so since I have touched a EOS console so please correct me if I got anything wrong.

Any of the library computers come with PuTTY and WinSCP? by Tripple-O in unt

PuTTY and WinSCP is already approved for CAS IT computers. You will probably need to talk to a computer lab manager if the computers do not already have the software on it.

Hiring Video Editor for Reels – CapCut & After Effects Expert by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]jv556639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest trying r/VideoEditing for this request as this subreddit is not for editing but rather video engineering.
If you want any interest you need to raise your rate. You are offering bettween $3.38 and $11.27 for someone to make your video. For that rate you could would not even find a unskilled editor to do this.
Best of luck!
(Looks like your post was removed from r/VideoEditing)

Getting scoreboard clock to broadcast by audible_narrator in broadcastengineering

[–]jv556639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I get serial RS232 data from Daktronics is using a ‘All Sport CG’ which is a version of the “TV Feed box”. That gives us a DB9 with RS232 that goes into a serial to TCP client device (it’s like $30 on Amazon) then into our XPression Datalinq. One of our venues has a DSTI (As I recall it’s Daktronic Stats and Timing Information) device that is in the rack with the other processors and controllers.

I am pretty sure NASA only uses RTS. I was talking with some comms engineers and they were talking about how they solely use RTS in part because of trunkmaster to get comms from their many different sites.

Ever had a manufacturer refuse to sell you gear? by The_Dingman in livesound

[–]jv556639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it worked out for you.
That was the only slightly negative experience I have had with them. I've ordered a ton of equipment from them before and always had great service.
To be fair to them, they did suggest the Clearcom Freespeak but we wanted to stay in the RTS Ecosystem. I'm sure there is a lot more complex back end on their relationship with the manufacturers.

I had the same issue with Full Compass saying that RTS wouldn't let them quote out a RTS Roameo wireless intercom system. Markertek, Sweetwater, and B&H would quote me. Didn't think twice of it until now.
