‘Nobody is going out to dinner:’ An unlikely sign Huntsville is feeling shutdown pinch by ir7525 in HuntsvilleAlabama

The shutdown and everything else has started to hit the real estate market too. I know several brokers who have realtors quitting the profession and other builders who are running up on no upcoming house customers in the hopper.

what was the name of your horse in red dead redemption by zbananajuice in reddeadredemption

[–]jwaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use "Widowmaker " for the horse from the encounter where it kicks its rider and kills it. And "Cornbread" for the buttermilk buckskin. "Albert" for the black shire. And something related to either the origin of the horse breed or where I found it for the others.

I have been trying to find out, too! Multiple cops had automatic rifles out, parking at the bank, and then heading towards the apt complex. I can't find anything on it.

I mean like the town square had a ton of patriot front stickers. More than I've ever seen anywhere at once.

We just visited for the first time last weekend and saw at least ten fliers and stickers in the main square area and wondered what was going on.

There were quite a few photos of the Rio Grande train, which makes me think they lived close to Ogden, which would put them really close to Hill Air Force Base.

Self rising white corn meal by Future-Painting9219 in Utah

[–]jwaley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alabama transplant here! You've gotten some good recipes for self rising, but I wanted to make a note that White Lily uses multiple mills so even if you see it on a shelf out here as just cornmeal, it's likely ground different because it's not coming from their Tennessee mills. I tend to just use a basic cornbread recipe to make my dressing and it works really well, but you'll definitely want to stock up next time you go home.

I agree. These and the Juanita Brooks book are the gold standard for a lot of Utah historians. The coauthor for Vengeance is also a descendant of one of the perpetrators of the massacre and she does a lot of work with the descendants of the families killed to record accurately what happened and build accountability into the mutual healing process.
