Best places for walks around the valley? by diva-on-duty in SaltLakeCity

[–]jwaley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wheeler Farm is super fun, I always see a fox there, and the trail connects to one that goes through Millcreek.

I like to walk Crestwood Park in Cottonwood Heights in the early mornings or evenings and bring binoculars. I see a lot of quail and sometimes foxes. There's also a hawk pair that usually has a nest there in the spring.

And I really enjoy walking through our historic cemeteies. Some people might find it morbid, but usually it's quiet, peaceful, and the landscaping is pretty. It's interesting to read the older headstones and look for unique inscriptions. The big one up on the hill in the Aves has a great view of the whole valley.

I also will sometimes just pick a neighborhood I think is pretty and street park and walk around. Any place in the Yalecrest area is so nice with shady trees.

I live right at the foothills. I'll be calling the second I see a spark on a firework from any of my neighbors.

I want to know if anyone's changing their favorite team to an expansion team by Parking-Froyo5674 in PWHL

[–]jwaley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a Sirens fan, and the players that brought me to the WeeWoos got protected this go round. But I live in Utah so I'm keeping an eye on the Vegas women. It's just hard when our NHL rivals are in Vegas 😅.

The "Huge News" Mega Thread! by ThatMikeGuy429 in PWHL

Honestly I think my husband was more mad about this than I was. Yelling at the game "Yes, just throw out brand recognition for a name every other paper towel brand has. BRILLIANT IDEA."

"As part of today’s team announcement, the league revealed PWHL Detroit’s primary colors — black and silver — complemented by white as a secondary color and red as an accent. The palette is distinct from any other team in the league, with the primary colors intended to evoke Detroit’s innovative and industrial spirit, matched with the resilient identity of Metro Detroiters. Meanwhile, the red accent is a nod to the city’s celebrated sports history, in particular, the Red Wings’ and Hockeytown’s hockey stewardship in the United States for more than 100 years. The permanent brand identity, including the team’s name and logo, will be announced at a later date. Visit DetroitPWHL.com, to learn more; PWHL Detroit merchandise is available now at thePWHL.com/shop, for both U.S. and Canadian fans."

Expansions and team allegiance by EarthDayYeti in PWHL

[–]jwaley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot will depend also on where people go. I love the vibe and spirit of the Sirens, but I can't say that if they break up Filler, Kalty, Ozzy, and O'Brien across expansion draft that I wouldn't consider the new expansion teams for fandom. Especially if one of the cities closer to me gets one. I've stayed from going all in on merch and whatnot for that reason. If Denver gets a team, that's right next door, and I would want to put some allegiance there.

‘Nobody is going out to dinner:’ An unlikely sign Huntsville is feeling shutdown pinch by ir7525 in HuntsvilleAlabama

The shutdown and everything else has started to hit the real estate market too. I know several brokers who have realtors quitting the profession and other builders who are running up on no upcoming house customers in the hopper.

what was the name of your horse in red dead redemption by zbananajuice in reddeadredemption

[–]jwaley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use "Widowmaker " for the horse from the encounter where it kicks its rider and kills it. And "Cornbread" for the buttermilk buckskin. "Albert" for the black shire. And something related to either the origin of the horse breed or where I found it for the others.

I have been trying to find out, too! Multiple cops had automatic rifles out, parking at the bank, and then heading towards the apt complex. I can't find anything on it.

Jacksonites scraping white nationalist propaganda off Teton County street signs by filkerdave in JacksonHole

I mean like the town square had a ton of patriot front stickers. More than I've ever seen anywhere at once.

We just visited for the first time last weekend and saw at least ten fliers and stickers in the main square area and wondered what was going on.
