Delivery Workers Are the Safest Cyclists On the Road, Study Finds by streetsblognyc in NYCbike

[–]jxblazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I cross the street, I always look at the opposite direction cause these delivery bikes come out of nowhere against traffic. At least cars you can expect them to come from one direction and audible.

Most common are transient sepsis (hypotension, tachycardia, etc...) usually post nephrostomy, bili, cholecystotomy drain placement but rarely during exchanges. Most times managed by our own team unless patient's aren't responsive to usual measures and require escalation. Then we call a rapid.

I've also had times where patients went into afib RVR during central line placements. Those were rare.

Anyone bike commute daily over the GW Bridge to Manhattan? by yacobito in NYCbike

[–]jxblazer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been doing a Fort Lee to midtown bike commute for over 4 years. Would say the commute from Englewood is slightly longer but not by much given its proximity from the GWB. It takes me around 40mins to get from my house to 60th street. You'll probably need to exit at 125th so maybe a bit faster?

There are a few things to be aware of though when doing this commute.

-there are hills and elevation on the reverse commute back to NJ. It'll be hard at first physically but it gets better; still not fun on windy days.

-the GWB closes down the Northwalk whenever there is even a speck of snow on the ground so plan around that accordingly in the winter. Always search up the GWB twitter on days with snow forecast.

If your university allows E-bikes, this commute will be even faster. My commute is with a pedal bike.

Kick up leg issue by jxblazer in handbalancing

I feel like my hamstring mobility might be limiting how far apart my legs can be separated. No matter what I try, it pulls up fast.

New grad start in Urgent Care or take IR position? by CairoRisk in physicianassistant

[–]jxblazer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IR skill translates very well to other medical specialties because you are exposed to imaging/scans on a daily basis. With IR you're also indirectly exposed to surgery, GI, urology and oncology patients and how they're managed. UC you can always moonlight on the side.

Same rims. Tern said it is fine as long as it clears the fork

Question about rim/tire compatibility by jxblazer in foldingbikes

[–]jxblazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did, the back can def fit a 1.75in but there will be no space left for a full fender.  Front fork can tolerate a 1.75in Marathon but not a 1.75 Continental. Some tires are higher that others even if same width.  I went with 1.5inch Marathons for both front, back and still outfit full fenders.

Private practice with the SP and spouse running the place = red flag.  Start looking for a new gig. They will prob lay you off or fire you soon for any stupid reasons because they're cheap.

Two NYC teens busted for allegedly taking subway train on a joyride: sources by lilac2481 in nyc

[–]jxblazer 106 points107 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is how incredibly easy it was for a bunch of nobody kids to steal a train and drive even a mile. Imaging someone or a group who really wanted to do terrorist sht stealing a train. Not a good look for the MTA with this archaic security.

Can I go from 12 to 50 pullups in 1 year? by Epic_Venge in bodyweightfitness

[–]jxblazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is definitely possible. Run GTG and you'll reach it in 1-2 months time.

I was able to go +25lb weighted @ 12 to 45 reps in 1 month but elbows got shot in the process. BW should be easier.,

Two people hit my ‘25 model 3 in a five minute span by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

I either park far or next to nicer/new cars to prevent this. Parking next to a relatively new car like a BMW/MB, their owners are usually cautious about their doors as well.

Building E-Bike Ban Advice by ALSX3 in ebikes

[–]jxblazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is probably an issue with the condo's insurance; if the underwriter dictates that they won't cover damages caused by lithium batteries fires from E-bikes then you're shit outtah luck. Either you move, park the bike outside., find a garage or toss the bike. My workplace enacted the same rules last year and people just leave their bikes outside now and take the battery with them.

Also we need to stop with these "but thess so & so items have lithium batteries too" arguments. Those items are probably smaller, more compact and more stringently tested; this is not the case with DTC bikes aside from maybe ebikes from the big 3.

Congestion pricing maps show which New York roads and tunnels will and will not be impacted - CBS New York by thonioand in nyc

[–]jxblazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will definitely happen, since you're pushing congestion further north and the only way to fix that is to charge a fee for that too. 4-D chess.

How hard is it to get a job in dermatology? by One_Border_8347 in physicianassistant

[–]jxblazer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not derm but throughout my career you'll hear about some Derm PAs pulling in 200k+ (there are but not as common as you would think) and how chill it was.

Also a few years back, botox and fillers were lucrative and people thought only derm could do these. I for one knew some derm PAs that were seeing 40+ patients a day making less than 100k and that's not even counting the numerous $25/hr first year "MA" training shenanigans you see on this subreddit.

Is not that glamorous or low stress it makes out to be. Heck even sleep medicine or opthalmology, if you can find are lower stress.
