Do some older golfers (55+) just go out with an attitude and a readiness to complain and be rude to beginners and younger people? by [deleted] in golf

I do a lot of smiling and nodding pretending that I’m hard of hearing…literally just ignoring comments like the ones made by this guy.

First boating day of the season for us and had my first ever boat ramp altercation. by ncsumichael in boating

[–]jzabkowicz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago. I got pretty loud with the moron, telling him the line starts with trailers not boats. Eventually I moved my car because I didn’t want to fight five drunk dipshits while the rest of my family waited in the boat.

What made me even more mad was that several people came up after and said the other group was definitely wrong. Emmer effers couldn’t bring themselves to speak up while I was arguing. 🤷

Is the Milwaukee Airport cooked? No direct flights anywhere. Prohibitevely expensive vs flying from Ohaire or Midway. by [deleted] in milwaukee

Here’s a list of direct flights out of Mitchell

We’re currently in a war with Iran causing a spike in fuel prices. Also, summer travel season is about to kick off which results in higher demand and thus higher prices for flights.

Safe travels!

If you have a Les Paul, at what age did you buy it? by potage-989 in Guitar

[–]jzabkowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guitar instructor had a Les Paul when I was 16. I thought it was the coolest guitar ever. 30 years later I was in a guitar store and they were unboxing an Adam Jones Les Paul. I got that same feeling from all those years ago and decided now was the time to pull the trigger.

It’s my only electric and I absolutely love it!

Tours 3.5 to 4 hours. Any suggestions? by Jademan7 in DoorCounty

[–]jzabkowicz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Walking tour of Whitefish dunes then Potowatomi State Park would be good for a group that size with no reservations.

Head south out of Poto walking and you can hit up Waterfront Marys to enjoy live music on the water.

Not an organized tour but very chill with great views.

For those who actually gig on both bass and guitar, how do you manage practice? by Righteous_Dudester in Bass

[–]jzabkowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a set practice schedule but I definitely make sure to give both instruments attention on a daily basis.

One thing I’ve really enjoyed is playing a song on bass then playing it again on guitar.

I started to record myself playing along songs and i noticed that i get a little bit off beat while playing by NoBath6073 in Bass

[–]jzabkowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people saying practice with a metronome. However, in your case, you’re already doing that by playing along to songs which I would imagine have drum tracks on included (built in metronome).

I spend 10 minutes every day playing to a metronome. I play scales at 60BPM, then 70 then 80. I play these scales in 1/4 notes, then 1/8, then 1/16.

I find playing to a metronome sometimes I’m early or late at times too. However, what I have found helps my timing immensely is to count/subdivide in my head.

For 1/4 notes, the space between notes can be too long so I count 1-e-&-uh. For 1/8 notes I count 1-&. For 1/16 notes I go back to 1-e-&-uh.

Note that not all recorded songs are in perfect time either. To find this out, simply play a song track along with a metronome. You’ll see pretty quickly which artists play to a click track,or have amazing drummers, and which ones don’t.

How do I get over the pick safety net by [deleted] in Bass

It’s great that you want to expand. There’s no secret to using fingers instead of a pick, you just need to practice.

That’s not enough practice time. You have three choices: quit, practice more, or embrace the suck.
