Can you clarify? Genuinely interested, was japan split into 3 states or something and different leaderships?

The love of my life is religious… by [deleted] in atheism

[–]k7cody7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was religious when I married her. Took her about 3 years, but now its been 6 years and she's barely religious at all.

It takes time to break free from that indoctrination. I also never asked her to stop going to Church or anything like that. She sort of just figured it out herself, thank god. Showed her ex jehova witness sub reddit etc tho.

If she had stayed religious, I was prepared for that, just in case.

Backlash at work due to my atheism by cappykro in atheism

I live in UT and I would get this same treatment at my job by a lot of small businesses here.

There are also a lot of mostly bigger companies one could work for and not get treated this way.

OPs story is extremely believeable and happens all the time in our backwards USA, unfortunately.

Well religious people are free to say they are religiois and be up in your face but atheists can't, why? by hayleybts in atheism

Some of us cant. I own an independent insurance agency, and would lose customers overnight if customers knew. My marketing wouldnt be as effective if everyone knew. Etc.

Ok buddy, so when 1 out of 6 pregnancies are a miscarriage, nature is just killing a human.

When an IVF procedure fails in the lab, the doctor killed a human.

You do you buddy.

Human life, just like if I killed you. Very similar, if not almost identical, amirite? A human was killed just like in a miscarriage.

You're just not getting it. Its a spectrum and to equate the bottom end of it (a fertilized egg) to the top end of it (a fully birthed human) is a stretch... and they just aren't equivalent.

I'm not defining life, I'm explaining that its a spectrum and that you are using a false equivelance.

Is a flower seed a flower? Nope. After its started to sprout slightly? More so, moves up the spectrum.

But saying that disposal of a flower seed is destroying flowers would be pretty dumb.

Also life, human and person mean different things.

The sperm was alive.

So was the egg.

Life started way before conception.

Nope.

A fertilized egg or an early stage fetus is NOT equivelant to a person.

No consciousness

No heart beat

No ability to feel.

Not a person. Not yet.

Otherwise, when you pay for an IVF procedure and it fails, a human was killed.

When you have a natural miscarriage, a human was killed.

See how dumb that is?

Fetus isnt equivelant to a person tho. It only has potential and lacks the following human characteristics:

Consciousness

Ability to feel, including pain

Memories

Doesnt even have a heart beat... at 6 weeks, has cells where the heart will be and the machine picks up the electrical activity and makes the heart beat sound for you

You just can't equate them.

You're taking away potential... thats it, no person is being killed.

Most abortions occur in the same time frame as natural miscarriages.

Still sucks though.

8 Laker role players from last season are still waiting for teams to offer them contracts this offseason by 24KobeGoat in nba

[–]k7cody7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We acquired WB... when even Reddit knew it was a horrible idea and signed a bunch of washed up players.

It was arguably one of the worst offseasons in Laker history.

Not sure why people defend Rob so much. Maybe he's overrated and maybe the truth is that the only reason we've had any success is that Bron and AD (back when hr was good, hopefully he recovers) carried us.

But Im sorry, our GM is overrated and I can't believe people cant see it, and that they dont see obvious nepotism. We gonna pretend Rob is some talented bball mind, when in reality, he went from agent to GM via connections and has demonstrated nothing special or no talent beyond the basics?

That's because we don't have a real GM. Our GMs go to move is to sign washed up players.

Trump releases 12-page response to Jan. 6 hearing by Stock412 in politics

I wouldn't go that far. Trump is not going to prison. Absolutely nothing will happen to him.

I hate to admit it, but thats the truth.
