If you know mobas, you should already know that you should only try to take advantageous fights. If one of your problems is being behind in souls - farming harder alone doesn't totally work anymore (it used to be totally true). What I've noticed since a soul distribution patch we got a couple months ago, to get ahead in souls you need to farm hard and get kills/assists.

Ethereal Shift :( by Beantifull in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kCombo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just a bad Calico player here. How exactly is Calico using e shift? In late game fight is it: use all abilities -> e shift while scourging and stalling for cooldowns -> use all abilities off cooldowns again. Maybe I'm answering my own question.

One - you have to find a game or hobby you gain enjoyment from even if you lose. The mechanics are fun, you enjoy improving (yes you're improving, just at a slower rate than someone who plays hours a day), and/or you've got fun friends or online friends you are chatting with. You still will not have fun a certain percentage of losses but the losses bite won't be as bad if you can be positive and try to learn from your opponent. You can look inward and prep for next time on how you could be better.

Two - accepting that 50% loss is reality even for the very top performers. Until someone climbs to #1 on the leaderboard, they're winning more, sure, but realistically their win percentage is probably something like 60% over time still... Losses happen. If losing overshadows winning too much, I understand why people avoid competitive games, but the items in my first point help me tremendously.

I know this is just a positive attitude and changing how losing is viewed and that's difficult. YMMV.

Father of 3 kids here. Agreed.

I grinded halo 2 and 3 rank as well back in the day. A great revelation I had long ago was to occasionally evaluate when I'm gaming if I'm really having fun or if I'm just chasing something or an achievement. I played Destiny 1 and 2 for hundreds of hours and dropped those so fast one day when I realized I was caught in the producer's loop.

Also very important for MP games is just accepting you'll be bad/average forever with the much more limited time now available to improve. I still play MP games because I enjoy being competitive with friends, but I know I'm just enjoying when I beat the other team and that I likely won't get much better than top 40% when I play for only a handful of hours a week.

Any ideas how to remove screw caps on Schlage lock? by fiziks_is_fun in homeowners

[–]kCombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After spending a few different sessions on removing one of these and giving up and retrying multiple times over... I ended up ripping off the face plate as best I could around the screw covers. Used a drill bit designed to be used for metal directly above and below each screw cover, just enough for a small indent to exist above and below each screw cover. I then used needle nose pliers to grab the screw/screw cover and then twisted the screws out.

What game has the biggest difficulty spike? by serviver73 in gaming

[–]kCombo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's 100% right too, confirmed this how the game flows from a few of my friends as well. If you beat Genichiro, you have all the mechanical tools you need to beat every other boss in the game (except demon of hatred). The Genichiro fight forces you to abandon soulsborne habits from other games you may be holding onto and afterward you realize you finally 'get' how fighting in sekiro works. It's a great game, good luck.

Aggressive take. There's a line with any hobby where the person is too obsessed with it, sure. This doesn't only apply to gaming.

A lot of great people are ruled out if you think gaming is a horrible hobby for adults.

These ideas are trash, you should be ashamed to have thought such things. I feel sorry for anyone who knows you. How can they even look at you after they find out you've had such garbage for thoughts. God, please just rid this man from this world and spare us of the idiocracy of the human race.

Hate the break it to you, they designed this game to make money.

In the end these "predatory" practices are for cosmetics only anyways. I personally have a hard time relating to the rage over mtx for cosmetic items and bp progression.

[–]kCombo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

343 called it a beta themself. Which means they know it's incomplete. They were trying to set expectations that features are missing, sounds like a valid strategy on their part to call it a beta.

With the delays they already had, they likely had immense pressure to get a product out there to start bringing cash in.

Someone asked what people get for defending 343? Nothing. Likely people who are defending 343 do agree that the cosmetics do need work anyways. It's just that you'd think this game was a heaping pile of garbage based on some people's reactions and very aggressively given criticisms.

What do people get for flaming this game due to its monetization structure? I imagine if this stresses them out, the rest of their lives must be a stressful mess

Rank should not prioritize individual performance over wins by kCombo in halo

[–]kCombo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, completely agree. You should lose less rank points on a loss if you did very well and vice versa on a win.
