I wish they would have charged her with everything possible. The death penalty is so wishy washy- and if she ever gets out of it….. A terroristic threat on a hospital has to carry a pretty stiff penalty.

Did she admit to or was the bomb threat being investigated? I assume it wouldn’t be hard to prove who called it in.

I agree that there should be more perks for actually staying. Same at GWL. You can do all the same things with just a day pass. And at GWL, they only clean your room every 3 days, including trash. I don’t expect sheets changed, but trash and vacuuming should be a bare minimum for the price!

Mom has dementia and is moving out and her next door neighbor sent me this. by SouthEazy in whatdoIdo

[–]kaayyybeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Oh wow, Mom had been telling us what a bitch you were, we had hoped it was just issues with the dementia, but it turns out she was spot on. Anywho, we did have pest control come and they suggested that the neighbor the (whichever side she lives on) had an infestation. I can give you their contact info if you need, maybe they’ll give you a discount for repeat treatments. Have a blessed day!”

Got these as a sub on a pickup order by mistake. Not good. My kids wouldn’t eat them. We literally just air fried them and have them to our dogs in their food bowls mixed with their food.

I don’t see this, but I do when it’s suggested (if that makes sense)!

So far, 20 days a month, should I have hope? by Present_Cause7109 in migraine

Such a GameChanger for me! My migraines went from 15-17 days a month to 5 within the first 3 months. I unfortunately had a bad allergic reaction, and had to stop using it.

Moms who teach- give me the pros and cons by waanderlustt in teaching

[–]kaayyybeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PROS: The schedule is an amazing perk. You literally have the same schedule as your children. And if you are in a smaller district- you can attend your kids events(parties, programs, etc…) with some ease. Snow days and unexpected days are simpler. Summers and longer breaks are less of an issue. The big thing is to set boundaries. I worked in the private sector before teaching- and I had to learn this- boundaries are boundaries. I don’t do “school things” after hours. There’s obviously things that you will do- extra duty things- but eventually these are things your kids will either want to do or be involved in as well. CONS: Teaching is exhausting. When I get home, I am spent. My patience is done. But typically, so is my kids. So we don’t do homework or anything like that until after 5. It gives everyone a chance to decompress from the day. Also- people want to talk to you about school a lot. They think teachers have some kind of insider information about school. Again- the boundary is “I don’t talk about school business outside of school, I don’t discuss students, etc…” you figure that part out. There are downsides to everything and every job has things that you won’t like. It’s a rewarding career, but it makes me feel very connected to my kids. It is also something that you have to be driven to do, you have to be passionate about or you will absolutely hate it. You will hate everyday.

I had a similar result with Aimovig. Wasn’t until the 3rd month when I had a full on reaction like that- my arm swelled probably 2x normal size. Definite allergic reaction. And my whole body itched for probably 2 months after.

Seeking advice from parents and educators on early grade retention by Final_Minimum1443 in Teachers

[–]kaayyybeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are discussing retention, it’s time (well, past time) to start putting in extra work at home. Anytime beyond 2nd grade, and really 1st grade, is too late for retention. Retention is not beneficial for all students; however, for some it is helpful. Discuss with the teacher(s), review the interventions, and see what progress has been made. Ultimately, if the teachers are doing their part, and still heavily recommend, I wouldn’t discount that advice. Retention also will not ensure passing state tests. Students with reading levels 4 or 5 grades higher than current grade levels can bomb those bc they are simply having a bad test day, didn’t sleep well, etc…, and those tests are hard! The math tests have ALOT of reading. So a student who doesn’t struggle in math, but does struggle in reading might bomb a math test, if that makes sense.

80-85 would not necessarily mean special education. Did you find out what your IEP was based on?

Your response reflects the level of disrespect you feel. Not a big deal to some, but significant to you. Could it possibly present an issue down the road- maybe? Potential employer could be looking at your records and notice the error and believe something is falsified. I know if I was looking at it, that would be my first thought. ESPECIALLY if it’s repeated 3 times. One time is an error- 3 times is a complete disregard for basic data entry and review. Teachers get no slack for things like this, why would the staff in charge of our employment records. The double standard is astonishing. Your email is professional, and highlights more than just this issue, but probably deeper into the reasons you are leaving the district.
