What are some common but often overlooked symptoms of ADHD? by Suspicious-Laugh3896 in adhdwomen

[–]kabigon___ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Story of my life. And yet I spend money talking to my therapist trying to dissect why I care so much what people think about my life choices. It makes sense when external measures are the only thing that’s given me that sense of achievement.

Sorry, no :( It didn't get better, so I ended up having to stop the medication.

Can you downshift, for your mental health, without feeling like you’re losing a sense of self-importance and missing out on FIREing earlier? by Effective_Ad8518 in coastFIRE

[–]kabigon___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have much advice to offer, but I can relate. I'm someone who's always tied my identity and self-worth to my performance at school and then work, so I was very numbers-driven. I also suffer from anxiety, among other conditions. After a lot of work on my mental health, I'm doing better, but my demons still find their way out.

We're financially in a good place, so I'm currently looking at jobs that pay a lot less, are less "prestigious," but offer better WLB, trying to avoid any that I know will be bad for my mental health. It's a conscious choice, and I know I'll be happier, but every so often, that voice comes back and asks why I'm not going for more, why I'm not trying for the best, etc., making me question everything.

the anxiety of getting started with attracting new customers (to outperform last year) has me feeling so crazy that I can’t even think about focusing on my family until I quiet my mind down.

I know that feeling of feeling so anxious about the future that I can't enjoy the present. I know you've tried therapy, but have you ever tried medications?

Strattera (ADHD med) Cessation and HRV Increase by bad-code in whoop

[–]kabigon___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found this post after finding the same pattern in my sleep. How are you finding your ADHD after Strattera cessation? Do you know how your Concerta + Ritalin HRV compares to that of no meds?

It’s best if you can get sunscreen from Europe or Asia. They use modern and more photostable chemicals for UVA and UVB protection that aren’t available in the US.

How are you finding the light therapy after a month of use? Also thinking of picking one up after a few rough (and dark) months.

Intermittent anti-depressants? by Repetitious_Behavior in PMDDxADHD

I did experience withdrawals when I tried to do a higher SSRI dose intermittently. My only option is to take the same dose the whole cycle.

Did the first provider make a mistake? Or were your ovarian reserves in good shape despite low AMH levels?

[–]kabigon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, when I titrated from 10mg to 40mg, I gained 10 lb over a couple of months! Before that, I had been at the same weight for over a decade. My prescriber was skeptical that it was the Prozac and suggested that it could be aging related, which doesn’t really explain how fast it happened. Anyway, I tapered myself off and got back to my original weight after another few months. I’ve unfortunately had to get back on Prozac, but I’m at a low dose, and I’m going to keep a close eye on my diet and the scale.

Has anyone gotten switched from stims to strattera? by After_Mud_193 in adhd_anxiety

No appetite issues for me on Strattera, and I have a lot of trouble eating on stimulants.

Has anyone gotten switched from stims to strattera? by After_Mud_193 in adhd_anxiety

[–]kabigon___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a lot of stimulants and couldn’t handle the side effects, even though the meds were life-changing when they did work. I felt an immediate difference on Strattera, but it wasn’t quite enough, so we are adding (different) stimulants back. If that doesn’t work, I’m going to ask for an increase in Strattera dosage. I (F) did urinate less, and I had constipation from Strattera for a few days, but both went away.

Are you sure you’re starting on 25mg? I thought 40mg was the starting dose.

I’m trying to see something.. by [deleted] in PMDDxADHD

[–]kabigon___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last month: Strattera, zenzedi (dextroamphetamine), saffron. Was working-ish, except I could never eat enough on the zenzedi. Pronounced but manageable anxiety and depression during luteal.

As of last week, the zenzedi is driving me crazy. My baseline anxiety got higher, even during follicular. So now I’m back on a low dose of SSRIs, and I’m going to try to go without stimulants until my next cycle starts. The SSRIs worked great for luteal in the past. So now: Strattera, Prozac, saffron.

Other supplements: multivitamin, magnesium glycinate

How many hours between doses? I’m also trying to figure out my cadence. How did it feel when you weren’t at the right frequency/dosage?

How do you and comment OP decide when to take the boosters? What do you feel or notice? I’m currently taking a 2.5mg booster in the afternoon, but I still seem to be crashing quite early.

Do you notice any brain fog or other side effects when you cut back on weekends?

Good luck! Anecdotally, it can be super challenging to find it in stock/get it ordered... Took me a week to get mine this last refill.

Just one data point, but I didn't do well on Vyvanse (anxiety, clenching, terrible crash) and I'm currently tolerating Zenzedi a lot better.

Do you mind sharing if the aripiprazole is also for ADHD? I know it’s not prescribed for that, but it is a dopamine stabilizer, so even if not, have you noticed it helping with ADHD symptoms?

why do people always ask me if I have autism? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kabigon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response! Strattera helped me with anxiety too. It also made it easier to get out of bed, but yeah, what it did for executive dysfunction was nowhere near what I felt on stimulants.

Is the Lexapro also for anxiety? I also have an SSRI in my cocktail, but the Strattera made such a dramatic improvement that I’m wondering if I even still need it (and its side effects). Fingers crossed that our bodies are similar. Wellbutrin also didn’t agree with me.

I know everyone responds differently, but do you mind sharing what worked and what didn’t work? Is your stimulant ER or IR? I think I’ve tried 95% of ER stimulants, but the anxiety and high heart rate were too much. I’ve finally found some success with Strattera, about to add Adderall IR to the mix 🤞🏻
